It would be a LOT easier to make a website where we could download the image and put it on our own USB. Dealerships could also have them ready for people who either don't know about it, or are technically challenged. Even if it takes a while to install, let the dealers make them and distribute them to folks who are interested. I would be happy to swing by and pick one up... hell I'd even take a pre-made one on loan for a few days. This really can't be that difficult to organize. I'm guessing there's an issue with these units that goes deeper than just not being able to handle OTA updates.

 

Yes, same way the old update worked with the uconnect website. Remember my old JEEP with the Mygig, just put the usb load the image on it and put it in the Mygig. Was a walk in the park.

Do you have the tech authority subscription? If so, you may be able to download it from the site...

 

I don't know why we have to go to the dealer for this except for the fact the update procedure may cause DTC codes which need to be cleared.
This will be a whole freaking day at the dealer I can promise you that. LOL

I just called and scheduled my appointment with my dealer. They said its actually showing up as an official recall now in their system. Appointment is 12/6!

Ok, so a fix for an OTA update bug that’s needed to fix the Uconnect bugs OTA.

Fair enough.

Not cool that it requires a trip to the dealer. That’s a 4+ hour process for me, having to go there and back twice.

I’d go to my local dealer, but last time I tried to get a loaner, I was told I’d have to pay my MaxCare deductible to get one, since I didn’t buy it there. Deductible is refundable, but I wasn’t confident they’d consider some of the issues (dead license plate LED assembly, gear whine, various rattles) covered, and I wasn’t about to chance it.

Not happy.

A completely new stack including hardware, OS, and applications is going to have bugs. Anybody with a clue would know this. You clearly did, as you advertise the advantages of being able to apply OTA updates. Heck, even your previous radio used OTA updates - for EXACTLY this reason.

It's almost like you never TESTED the new system's ability to receive OTA updates. Did you actually test ANYTHING?

LOL - I read an early review touting the developers for Uconnect5 were from Carnegie Mellon University. As a Maryland Computer Science grad I'm literally laughing my ass off. I guess it couldn't possibly be the fault of anybody from CMU, or Uconnect, or Dodge. So, who DID you use for testing?

So everyone here complaining about getting an update. So now there is one, and we are complaining about how to get the update? Seriously guys, it sucks, but at least it's finally here.

 

Yes it is here but almost a year late and now we have to take time out of our day to have the numbskull dealers sit on your car all day.
They should have supplied the dealer with USB sticks and hand them out to customers if needed.

 

the process has to be "dumbed down" because it assumes that the customer has no technical skilz...so all you techy savvy guys have to suffer

 

Making the update downloadable for end-user install via USB is a process that’s been around for over a decade, and owners have typically had the option of having a dealer do it if it’s not something they’re comfortable with.

If this system is so fragile that it can’t handle this process, it doesn’t belong in a vehicle.

 

As I read it, the USB will come in the mail with the recall notice. However, you do have the option to bring it in to the dealer if you are not comfortable with the USB option. I am extremely impatient so I opted to bring my car into the dealer tomorrow and have them get it updated asap. Fortunately, I have a dealer 10 min away and a few extra vehicles so it doesn't cause too much inconvenience.

 

Wow an appointment in a day or so? My dealer gave me 2 weeks out, IDIOTS!

 

So I just bought a brand new DD R/T Hemi and my display screen won't dim at night. Its bright all the time, I have tried the manual setting but it ONLY gives me options to adjust when lights are off, the "when lights are on" option is totally greyed out and I can't get it to turn on no matter what I try to do. So we have this bright screen when its dark, its like the auto setting is not working or something.
I do not have an issue with my screen freezing or anything.and I have not tried the multi-user profiles.
Anyone else??

 

It happened to me once. Turn the light knob to OFF and back to AUTO. Also, make sure that next to the knob, the little roller for the interior light is one notch bellow the full bright. Pretty sensitive and easy to miss the notch.

 

I haven't read through the whole thread. I saw there is an option to update over wifi which I didn't know about. So I connected to my wifi, it said connected with scanning at the bottom (for other wifi networks I presume). I hit the back button and tapped update over wifi. It just showed the wifi networks list. Noticed my network wasn't connected. So tapped and said my network not in range.

It turns out that over wifi may not work for updates. Is that all of them? I didn't sit there long enough to see if anything ever came up.

Now I see we have an update but may have to sit at the dealer. Will allow me to bring it in for an oil change, have them look at why the temp goes up to mid Mark or higher, sits there for a while then falls, have them update and talk to the GM.

 

Which numbers is the last update and where i can check it in my radio??

 

I think Canada is out of luck currently. I called my dealership and they said they don't see anything recent updates.

 

If you log on Mopar's web site to see the current recalls, you will see that there is a campain celled Y25, 2021 RU WD HARMAN RADIO - RADIO SOFTWARE UPDATE (started 2021-10-28). I'm heading to the dealer next week for that.

 

I got mine updated today.

v1.1 List (I will update the list version for each entry I make when I found more things out.)

1. Songs start at the beginning now when tuning to Sirius channels.
2. Speeding MPH limit is still 3MPH and not adjustable. DUMB
3. Smoothed graphics
4. Audio playing Sirius and USB is a bit tighter which is good
5. Weather Map is still useless
6. Android Auto works fine
7. VR is still not as good as the 8.4 systems but is a hair better with this new firmware.
8. Performance pages were not fixed (low HP showing and wrong TQ showing)
9. I am hoping OTA updated will now happen.
10. Tom Tom map updates not available when they should be.
11. Favorite Song or Artist pop up is now fixed. Normal font size with a slim title bar showing the song/artist and the Sirius Logo. If you click OK you hear a chime and you go to the channel/song.

That is all I have for now but I am sure as I use the unit I will run into other bugs that are hopefully fixed.

I filled out a Stellantis survey a few days ago, and among other things, mentioned my less-than-positive thoughts on Uconnect.

Got a call today from someone following-up, asking if I was aware of a recall for my Uconnect issues. Told her I had read about it, and mentioned that there was some chatter about the possibility of USB drives being sent with the update on it.

Unfortunately, she hadn’t heard anything like that. Of course, it may just be that it’ll happen, but word hadn’t filtered down to her level. Not surprised, but was hoping for confirmation. She did say that a letter was going out, so maybe there’ll be an early Christmas gift in there.

Guess I should just schedule that appointment for everything else and plan accordingly.
