I fear the dark mode for the Nav/weather is where Mopar is going to stay and if so, their UI desginers are notlistening to customers, if they even ask.
@CKB does your Theme show helmets on the driver/passenger images when looking at the HVAC controls on the 10.1" screen?

Wow, so Dodge removed the helmut heads on purpose. WTF. I though maybe it was the Ram/Pacifica update I put on my Durango that did it. Guess not! Dodge has now made my R/T nothing special. I only bought it cause of the helmets so I am pissed to no end ;):ROFLMAO:

I did not care the UC5 system did not work correctly, I did not care my heated seat settings did not work, I did not care my engine rpms run away in neutral, I did not care my brake roters warped in 10k miles, I did not care my spoiler can fly off, I did not care side airbags were installed incorrectly, I did not care about the hemi tick, I did not care about crooked exhaust, I did not care about mis-aligned lift gates, I did not care about runs/drips in the paint, I did not care the side lower moldings do not fit right, I did not care about anything but my damn helmets and now they are gone forever.

Time, effort, organization decreases.... sounds like they are cutting down, minimizing, streamlining... probably some upper exec's Six Sigma process bright idea.... "hey we can eliminate defects, time, energy if we roll out a more universal app and updates to the app".

Updates applied to prior versions of the app will unfortunately probably be paired down to the most recent release. Resulting in loss of features... Luckily mine has been relatively troube free up to now... knock on wood... but I think I'd hesitate on any upgrate now for the potential of loosing some options that seem to have been deemed 'unnecessary'..... Helmets, light/dark modes, etc....

I just purchased a 2023 DD R/T Plus and have the same issue with Dark mode (and other issues). I traded a 2019 GC Limited and the screen would switch automatically between dark and light modes depending on the ambient light. The 2023 "info" system is very complicated and many of the options cannot be changed or not available. Very frustrating!!

Hello, I have been going to my dealer and attempting to work with Uconnect case managers since June, 2023 when I took delivery of my new Durango. After 4 Uconnect case managers, I received an email yesterday indicating that Dodge, Ucdonnect and the dealers are aware of the problem. The manager indicated they are working on a over the air software update to correct the problem that will be released in the future? Not sure if I believe them, but I will wait. Nothing else we can do.

Thanks for the update.
Why do they need to change things and make it more complicated? My 2019 Uconnect system was good. Bigger screen is nice but not all the new features or lack of "old" features.

I believe it was error on their part in software development for the 2023 production of the Durango. Don't know for sure, but I had a 2021 Durango with the same Uconnect 5 radio 10.1 screen with Navigation and the light modes worked perfectly, so why change to a non working model?

Doubt it. Those that have updated their earlier UC5s have found that dark mode becomes the default and can't be changed. Try the dealer but they may not have a fix for it.

Just took delivery if my 2024 GT. Monday. No option for changing dark mode, makes using onboard nav useless in the day. Hopefully a fix is in the works
24's may have a way to change the light/dark mode. But I think you are an AI bot so I am not going to tell you. LOL

Def not an AI bot. 🤣😶‍🌫. But I do work at Stellantis HQ so I'll ask around the engineering staff
If you work for Stellantis and bought a Durango and now have questions about the crap implementation of UC5, it makes me suspect as it oozes Chinese or Russian AI interference. ;):ROFLMAO:

I'll ask around the engineering staff
It would be great if a few of the engineers could join us here periodically... something like an AMA thread would be awesome. We have a bunch of questions which have never been resolved because the dealerships are so uninformed about the Durango, and it seems the factory support for them is pretty weak. The DodgeCares user on this forum seems to be a team of folks, and they do try to help, but realistically we know more than they do. Some examples:
  • What is the underlying cause for the Uconnect box error messages? Why do only some of us get it? Why do some get it so much more frequently than others? Is there any real solution?
  • Why has DODGE never supplied PIN code theft prevention to the Durango platform? These things get stolen all the time, just like the Chargers and Challengers. They got firmware but we didn't.
  • Why do the 2021's and later seem to have a rev-hang problem? Put it in neutral to coast, and then give it a throttle blip - boom, you're stuck at 4k rpm until you come to a complete stop. Repeatable across multiple forum member vehicles. Craziest thing I've even seen. Even the dealership was at a complete loss for an explanation.

Hey just cause I work here doesn't make me a bot. If you knew the engineering staff we have to deal with. You would understand why it's impossible to get a straight answer on anything. Not too mention there is no way a union member ( myself) would 1) Russian, 2) Chinese or 3)a bot. Thanks for the warm welcome to this site. Tough crowd.

Oh come on man, we're not that tough. It is just that Dodge has left all Durango owners in the gutter to rot. We're (at least I am) just a little annoyed.. But since you are going to mosey on over to UC engineering, say hello to Frank T for me.

Post a larger pic of your Durango, it 's hard to see but looks nice!
