2021 DD Uconnect 5C 10.1" System Issues/Glitches (Share your experiences)

I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

Hi all. Been lurking here but watching this thread. I can honestly say my system has been unusually reliable aside from the below since updating to the latest update posted here and doing a factory reset. That's the good part. I haven't seen any glitches in the 3 weeks or so knocks on wood for as far as reboots or lockups.

HOWEVER: both before this update and after I've had the dreaded uconnect box error. I had hoped the update would fix it but it didn't. I also took it to the dealer and even showed them the posts here about the potential of the issue being caused by the telematics box or the wiring going into it. I got the car back say they can't reproduce it which is BS. I don't think they even tried anything bc there isn't even any evidence they tried as much as a reset, so I doubt they opened anything. Needless to say, the error continues to pop up occasionally. Sometimes 2 or 3 times in short succession.

Aside from some other dealer related frustrations I am at the point where I can't wait to get rid of this thing because like many of you here - I get the impression Dodge/Stellantis doesn't give a crap once they have their money. I've spoken with people who have Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee Ls who have nothing but complaints too, in part about the stability of the Uconnect system.

Here is some Olympic-quality mental gymnastics for you. The only logic I can make work in my head is this:

1. The original FUconnect5 units had one or more problems which result in these generic "UConnect Box Error" pop ups.
2. They fixed them somehow along the way - why else would they keep using FUconnect5 in new years/models?
3. It must be a disaster for them to rectify things with existing owners - maybe an expensive/high labor replacement.
4. So now they are just hoping we all go away when our warranties expire.

(except nobody told them about the MOPAR extended warranty which does in fact cover Navigation systems)

Any class action attorneys on this forum? Sounds like we have a class who is at serious risk of losing warranty coverage on a very expensive and critical system in these vehicles before a solution is provided. As I've said before, I think they need to fix this, and if they cannot prior to a customer's warranty kicking out, they should extend the warranty.

Your radar is working. In the upper LH corner is green (rain) and pink (sleet). And the "light gray" is cloudy? I will take a closer look at mine on Thursday. I am driving from central PA to York, PA (south of Harrisburg). As for the dots, I like your thinking. But it may be reporting sites. Or number of FUC5 units. IDK. :unsure:

I thought Seven Mile Island was just east of Harrisburg, PA.

OK, for all of you hating the Dodge weather app like me there is a better solution.....for those that have a smart phone.

Download an app called MyRadar, it works on Carplay and works well, you can zoom (down to street names) and move the map around and select the type of map as well as selecting lightning strikes and something else but can't remember what. Here's a screen shot from this morning when I went to test the other app (which did NOT work on Carplay).

Suck it FUconnect shitty subscription weather app! 🖕

Another day and check mark in the "works okay" column. Weather and radar worked fine. It was a cloudless sunny day so nothing to show on radar. But the weather updated many places during my trip today. I probably jinxed my FUC5 system by saying that. Still don't like the "dark mode" but at least I have weather and radar. (y)

I am going to try an AA weather app today. Pretty excited if it works. I will then cancel siriusXM and just pay for the app and use that too on AA.
FUC5 has numbered days, I hope. But maybe a new firmware is coming that will again fix all the previous issues (4th time is a charm?)

I tried weather and Radar this morning. It worked, looked great but is slow as crap just like their website. Must be from offshore where the data is coming from or their servers are overloaded? But at least it worked out of the box. I am going to check MyRadar and if I like it I will buy it and wait fro the AA integration. Do they have a time frame road map for it yet?

I saw no ADs using weatherandradar when using it via Android Auto. I may not have used it long enough but using it on my phone I would trash it cause of the amount of ADs I saw. No matter it is already deleted from my phone so I will wait for MyRadar! Thanks @va-terps4

Hoping for some help from this community... I've searched through this thread but haven't found the answer yet. Both I and my wife have Pixel 5's and use android auto for maps, hands free calling etc. If a call comes through while driving and I tap the screen to answer, all is good. If I use the screen to go to my favorites contacts on AA and initiate a call from there, all is good. If I use the long press of the voice button on the steering wheel to access google assistant so I can ask her to call such and such, the audio immediately disconnects from the car and will only come through the phone speaker. This happens with both our phones.

My apologies if this has been discussed in this 137 page thread, I couldn't find it. Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Thank you in advance my fellow disgruntled Uconnecters!

You may need a newer phone :(. AA is really stable and I have never had an AA issue with my Samsung S21 and S23.
It could also be the version of AA you have on your phone? The last 2 versions do not play sms messages (audio) trying to do it from the steering controls then tapping listen (on the screen)

To work around that you can enable barge in and say, hey google. Works great if you are not sending some sonic [loud] bliss to your ears with the Alpine system

The Weather and Radar has not worked the past two (2) days. Showing the usual "error" and "cannot connect" messages. I thought it would not last. Also, today when I started the DD, a SIRUSXM screen popped up. It stated my trail subscription is starting and "press the LISTEN button" to start your trial subscription. WTF, I owned the DD since late October and had SIRIUSXM since day one. I think the FUC5 is f'd up! Definitely beginning to dislike the DD.

Carplay decided it just wouldn't work today. Deleted FUconnect from my phone, deleted phone from FUconnect MULTIPLE times and re-added, still nothing. This thing is a gigantic PIECE OF CRAP. Why isn't there a class action against Dodge for this bullshit, I'm seriously fed up and I don't have half the problems with this POS some of you here do. I want to rip this turd out of my dash and use it to smash over the heads of SCREWYOUconnect employees.

All I can say is;

I am downgrading my Sirius account to streaming only. The Sirius app for Android Auto is very acceptable and will only get better. I will also get the weather for AA when it comes out. I do not need the 4G internet service from ATT either since it will all be my phone. Basically, Dodge, ATT and Sirius lost HUNDREDS of $$$ from me

The Uconnect 5 Team ruined any chances of the VR to work correctly or even become more usable as they now limit SMS responses to predetermined choices.
Their predetermined responses are not fitting and you need to scroll (while driving) to choose one that MAY be applicable. Dangerous.

I tried sending an SMS to my woman cause I wanted to spank her the other night. WTF it made me send, Hello. LOL

Sooooo, I’m not sure if anyone has had this problem, but, if I’m on my Home Screen when I shut the vehicle off then turn it back on, it defaults to the app screen. But, if I’m on any other screen it is there when I restart. Also, last night I had my whole screen go black and it took a hard reset to get it to come back. After some f*cking with it of course. This POS system and vehicle are soon to be replaced. I thought after my last round of fights with the stealer ship I was at least ok. NOPE! How on earth can they believe that anyone will buy their vehicles when they are fully electric. This system is going to cause an accident due to its failures.

rdskinsfan25 - you bring up a good point about causing an accident. A complaint I have is the small icons/buttons. I have to take my eyes off the road to make sure I press the correct button. If the buttons were bigger it might be less distracting. Or a means to control the buttons without removing your hands from the steering wheel.
Talk about distracted driving!

That’s a whole other issue I have. But more importantly for me is tv have this LOS infotainment to stay working. I’ve had nothing but issues with EVERY warranty replacement. I believe I’m on like new to my Durango radios in the 4-5 maybe 6! Also, I posted the other comment but for some reason it signed me up as new instead of using my account.

Mine has been playing the screw Carplay game, it randomly just disconnects then maybe reconnects a minute later, and maybe does it 3+ times over the course of 5 minutes. My phone is in a cradle and doesn't move, this happens even when sitting in my car at work. 🖕 this is for the UTURD team.

Here's a new one for the UTURD.

Get in the car, start it up and the Carplay symbol shows up on the UTURD and the phone, press Carplay button on the UTURD screen and it's frigging blank. nada, zip, all gone into outer space. The phone worked through the radio system but you had to control it direct from the phone. Deleted the phone from the car, deleted the car from the phone and it worked fine without even adding it again.

Congrats UTURD team, you are special. 💩🤡
