2021 DD Uconnect 5C 10.1" System Issues/Glitches (Share your experiences)

I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

I bought a 2021 Dodge Durango R/T about a month ago from a Dodge dealer. This message started popping up like a week after I took it home. Nothing else seems to be glitching or affected. I tried to sit by my Wi-Fi and see if anything would download OTA. Waiting for update. Next time I take it in I will give them a copy of the TSB and have them look at it.

I have that popping up every few minutes now. Dealer said there was an update coming and DodgeCares replied to a thread on here stating the same thing. Should get fixed whenever the update happens.
Yeah, I am hoping it is by December.

Yep. I get it a few times on every drove.. soo annoying.
Yep annoying, it makes it look like something is wrong when apparently it is more of a glitch.

Uconnect App issues will never get fixed either. According to Uconnect, it is dependent on an update for the 10.1 system. But accrording to the Uconnect programming guy, it has no bearing on the infotainment system. Who to believe? LOL
So the uconnect box pop-up issue there is no current fix? Someone on here mentioned connecting it to wifi for some kind of connection (not even sure if it is an actual update) solved it for them. Like the box just needed to be hooked up to WiFi then it could communicate.

I am already having the water leaking in the racetrack light. Started to look like that section is getting dimmer...

I booked an appointment at the Dodge dealer for when they would have a complimentary service rental vehicle - which is Janury 6th lol. So i booked it and said I am bringing is in for the uconnect error message and i have all three TSB for them printed out that they can use to fix. I printed out the safety recall of the look spolier and will give that to them as well, then I let them know the racetrack light was leaking water and that this is a known manufacturer defect due to the break down of the gasket (he made a sigh sound like they get these coming in a lot). And last thing was the medium setting for the heat not working when you put it directly on second setting from cold.


the way it was worded in the email:

"1st issue:

Rear Spoiler loose (gap on one side) - FCA safety recall issued

I have attached the NHTSA 21V-842 Safety Recall Y73 for the covered safety recall of this issue.


2nd issue:

Message on Uconnect 5 “Uconnect Box requires service. Please visit an authorized dealer”. There are 3 related STAR TSBs for this - attached as PDFs to this email. Here is a photo of the screen, sometimes the message pops up a couple times in a drive and sometimes several.

3rd issue:
Medium setting on heated seats doesn’t work if you go straight to the 2nd setting without going to 1(low) or 3 (high). This is a known issue on the Dodge Durango forums.


4th issue:
Racetrack rear LED center light is leaking water. There is standing water in it. This is a known issue as well, as the gasket breaks down behind the light and lets water into the light and eventually causes the LEDs to go out. Here are four pictures, 2 with LED light off, and 2 with LED light on, showing the water accumulation:

I’ve been to the dealer twice this week.. have to go back again to figure out what the clunk in when backing into my driveway (another broken wheel hub? Shock?). They can’t do anything about the Uconnect issues so I just keep logging them. Dealership is doing everything they can here but it’s getting old.

I have a small vibrating when I step on the brake.
I like the idea of a class action suit. We purchased a new 2021 Durango R/T and shortly thereafter a UCONNECT warning service message appeared. Not just once but multiple times on EACH trip. Very annoying. We let the dealer work on it several times. We rented substitute vehicles while they worked on it. Now say it was a known problem and an update would be forth coming. I've sent certified letters to dealership and Dodge advising them we consider this a safety issue and also selling a vehicle to us with a KNOWN problem is not right. Also, if we want to trade out of Dodge, then someone is going to ding us for the cost of a defective system

@DodgeCares : Do I even bother bringing this thing to the dealer since it's on the latest release?
Mine was the same message but it was an actual wire in the back that came unplugged.

Do you happen to have any notes from the repair?! That might help some of us out…. I started seeing this after radio number 2 went in and radio number 3 also has it but I never saw it with the original radio.
I pick it up tomorrow. I will post here when I get the receipt. I think this is original radio but not sure because I bought this certified preowned from a corporate lease return.

My uconnect error fixed, a loose C5 connector. Just an fyi for those with that error message. I just thought I wasn’t getting an over the air update…

I have a 21 Durango R/T still running version 17.99 and the message bellow keeps popping. Im so angry because it has happening for months. I called Uconnect a few days ago and told me they are aware of this situation and there is going to be an update to adreess this. And not need to go to the dealer. I saw someone saying about replacing the Telematic. At this point I don't really know what to do. It's very frustrating to see this error popping out everyday!!
They told me at the dealership the C3 connector was loose in the telematics box in the glove box and they changed it out. The message went away for 2 weeks, then started coming back. It is an OTA update that is needed but they keep prolonging the date.

We have had our Durango all of two weeks come this Saturday. So yesterday Sirus stopped working, any advice on how to get it to start working again?
I had to hold down power button for radio and let it hard restart and it recognized my account after that.

That’s my daily routine. This Uconnect 5 is absolute trash, I’d rather have Windows ME on it.
It only happened twice to me since I got it in October 2022.
I’ve been fighting this since June 2021…. I’m legit jealous if you’re not having as many issues and I hope that continues on your favor. 🍻
I should clarify, I was responding to the Sirius XM thing above regarding it has happened twice. The uconnect error message I have had at least 50 times since I got it.

I got in my car at lunch and all the presets were defaulted to other channels and the comfort button looks a little different, could this be the over the air update? I will update if the message pop up comes on…

What firmware version is your radio running?
Are you just toying with us?
I don’t have pics of the Sirius XM stations being all reset (of course you wouldn’t know which stations I had). I thought the lines around the comfort button looked thinner than before (pic included). I don’t know if there was any redesign for this update or just a glitch fix. I used to have the message pop up as soon as I got in the car and a couple times a ride. I have not seen it yet. I did message that Dodge cares and gave them my VIN for the update a couple months ago.

I am hopeful but I will keep you posted if the message comes back.

Same as mine and the error message popped out like 3 times today...I dont know why the haven't fix this sh..t! already...
No error message yet today and I noticed the change at lunch, will update tomorrow…

The system will NOT update without the truck running. Dodge does not allow the system to be able to upgraded the system without owner input.
Weird, I didn’t notice anything when I turned it off and went inside, and vehicle was off until lunch. Still no message pop up after driving last night.
