I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

Got in ours on Friday, started it up, and no CarPlay button in the bottom row. A few minutes later, my wife’s phone connected, and CarPlay fired up.

Went into the device manager, and my phone was gone. Wife and son’s were there, but not mine. Nobody deleted it, it just disappeared. On the phone, I could still see the entry for it in Settings > General > CarPlay, so it’s just the UConnect side.

Re-added it, and it works again.

Ridiculous.

did you by chance reset your network settings on your phone? When I do it changes the name of my phone for some reason and then the Uconnect doesnt recognize it, go into general/about and check your device name

Success was short-lived.

While it was in device manager tonight, it refused to connect wirelessly. Multiple attempts, nothing but messages to make sure CarPlay was enabled on the phone (or something to that effect - was too angry to bother capturing it).

Plugged in a USB cable, and was then prompted to connect.

Seriously. Was there any QA testing on this?

Was going over the Grand Cherokee L forum. Their unit are running an updated version of our uconnect5.

They have the same issue as us. So the update we all waiting in december might not be a fixer.
I only saw Apple Car play issues and nothing about the myriad of bugs we have in our system.
Maybe I missed it.

Finally got the Nav Weather to work, kind of disappointed in it really. As someone suggested earlier I had the UConnect app open with traffic and boundaries on, not sure it made a difference or not as I didn't try without it open.

Up until now I've gotten a bunch of error messages when trying to bring up the Nav Weather, but this time you could see the weather map behind the error message. Yes my screen needs a cleaning.

So there is a "MAP" button in the upper right corner, clicked on it and Presto!

116752

So why am I disappointed? Because that's it, you can't zoom or do anything else with it, it's non-functional as far as I can tell and you have to return to the Nav Map and the weather doesn't overlay while driving. Nice thought, poor application.

I still like the larger screen and the features over the 8.4 screen, and I'll just put the weather app on my phone on when I need to watch it, but it would be nice to have it overlaid on the Nav screen.

@FLDurango21 the error you are getting is because there is a satellite issue with Tom Tom.
I had this issue back in May and June but since has been working great.
In place of the error you should see the forecast from hourly to 10 days out.

At first I thought is was bad programming but it gradually improved which meant the satellite back end was improving.
Call Uconnect and complain about no weather reception.

I hope so but not holding my breath. That guy seems to be just an advertisement for FCA/Stellantis.
Dodge Cares has no idea, Mopar has no idea, Uconnect support has no idea yet this guy knows?
FYI: All the people I have spoken to over the phone at Uconnect sound like young college kids where everything they say includes a giggle. Pretty annoying.

New weirdness.

I turned on the camera when not in reverse. Turned it off again.

Now, after switching back from reverse to drive, it takes a REALLY long time to turn off. As in, you’re driving forward for a bit before it finally does.

What a mess this thing is.

Is the Camera Delay enabled?

Some of those might be old or seen already, but see attached some starcase info.

New Bug: When activating the weather map, the map sometimes goes into 3D mode and acts like the navigation map. I have to exit the weather then if I go back in the map is normal.
This has happened a few times this past month.

New Bug: When using Android Auto but using SiriusXM and a call or text comes in, you answer it and the screen goes to the AA screen. When you hang up or finish and send your text message, AA does not revert back to the original (in this case Sirius XM) screen. It should do that just like the bluetooth system works.

New Bug: When tuned to a SIriusXM station playing a show, the Start Show Over button sometimes flickers and goes away. It is not the screen because the normal screen image background is there in it's place. If you tune away to the channel then back, the Start Show Over button appears and stays. This happens once or so every week. (that I notice)

@Vice-White I have the same issue with the weather map. I also have a bug sometimes when i pick my phone in my hand while driving ( I know, I know..) and listening to local radio FM station, that sound is cut from the either dash speaker or tweeter. As soon as I press the lock screen on my phone, the sound goes back to all speaker. Not a big issue, but still interesting how many little flaws/behiavior the uconnect5 is accumulating. Really starting to think that the uconnect 5 team do not care at all to have a stable system for their customers.

new bug: Android Auto audio bug

Android Auto enabled while on ANY Android auto screen text messaging works fine when replying and sending
Android Auto enabled but not on an Android Auto (example playing SiriusXM) when google stops talking, the SiriusXM music kicks back on for a half second. Same thing when google asks you to send it, the SiriusXM music kicks back in. This is annoying since you may need to respond to Google at least 3 or 4 times to read, reply and send a message.

@DodgeCares What is the reason of the delay for the Uconnect update? 1st quarter, then 2nd quarter now 3rd quarter which is coming to a close very soon.
Why does Dodge punish us by (supposedly) requiring the update be sent via US Postal Mail on a USB stick and not [in tandem] post it on Uconnect's website when it is ready? Do the C level executives truly understand what is happening and how much we pay for these Durangos? if you want a decent Durango it is going to cost you 50k+ which is fine in itself but not when QC is such a problem. I do not even want to go into the trouble I am having my my 58K Jeep grand Cherokee I bought in June.

All the following is based on personal experience either on my own or from friends
Tesla releases updates monthly! (says something [negative] about their programming. LOL )
Kia Telluride has gotten 3 updates for the 2021MY so far
Honda seems to work out of the box perfectly.
Mazda seems to work out of the box perfectly
GMC Acadia 2019 MY got 2 updates the same MY

I have been positive (mostly) and understanding (always) but for me, this has now hit the wall of ridiculousness. All we would like is transparency on the actual cause of the delay.

It's been a few months, around 1k miles, and so far UConnect 5 has been relatively solid. This was a summer '21 build, so it may have had some additional updates. It's not perfect, as there will be an occasional glitch with Android Auto or Apple Carplay that requires re-establishing a connection (mostly when wireless). But it's rare and minor. And on par with other recent 2020+ vehicles I've owned from Kia/Hyundai, GM, Audi, etc. Perhaps a few more years and they'll all figure out this "new" tech.

I did notice the XM weather app didn't load the last time I tried. But considering it's been pretty useless in every other vehicle, I didn't bother with it.

Ram announces Uconnect 5 for 2022 Rams. Big freaking deal! Uconnect 5 is broken on our Durangos and we have 27 days before the end of the 3rd quarter which is when (for the 3rd time) we were promised an update. @DodgeCares, do you have any updates on when the updated software is going to be released or do we need to sell our 2021's and buy 2022's?

I've been away for a while (enjoying my scat) but I may have to let me son take it for a while so I'll be back in the DD... are you all saying there has been no update this whole time lol?

I drove the DD the other day and plugged in my iphone to the usbc and car play seemed to work fine however I did not try the wireless CP and when we both were in the car a few weeks ago, it got very confused and neither would connect to CP, even with the usbc wire. so yea, looks like nothing has changed? when it works, it's great and fantastic but it should always work especially by now.

how do we check to see if we have the most up to date version/software? is there any reason to even check? if there have been no updates then we all have the most recent version? LOL

@Heat00 all 2021 Durangos with the UC5 10.1" need the update.

We could trade our DDs in for an uninspiring plain boxy looking Jeep GCL cause those vehicles have the newest firmware. Nah that is a dumb idea, no need ot trade in such a cool vehicle as the DD for a 2005 design of the Jeep GCL.

#918 ·
LOL... I hear ya... so what are you saying, that we all need an update but it's not out yet? How can the Jeep have the updated firmware but we cant update ours ? While I love the bigger, better screen of the UC5 vs my scat, I have to say all my scats UC4 have worked perfectly from day 1 the entire time. It's frustrating to say the least.

besides, even if one wanted to trade or get something else, now is not the time. there is suck low inventory right now everything is overpriced to say the least. I tried to give back the durango for another scat but they are basically non existent right now.... new or used, they are priced through the roof. I hope that changes one day to a normal market.

Things I just found out today about wireless Carplay. I use to not be able to turn OFF the wifi on my iPhone while connected as the WIFI button was greyed out while connected to my DD. Today it is still connected, but I am now able to turn ON or OFF the wifi by pressing on the screen button in the control center (swipe down menu on iPhone). Can someone also confirm this?

Positive spin: What the Jeeps got was only a partially-fixed version, they’re waiting until everything’s working right before releasing one for us.

I mean, it could happen…
I went snitching a little on the GCL forum, and the firmware they have is definetly not a fixer. Might be the reason why the DD update we are all waiting is being postponed. But it is probably helping us that the new Grand Cherokee L and Grand Wagoneer are both running UC5, so the heat on the engineer to get that fixed will only be bigger.
