'15 V6 Limited. On the tanks that are 80/20 city/highway driving, we can average 18. On the majority freeway tanks (mostly weekends), we can get in the 19.5 - 21 range. Never ever use Eco mode. Don't like the way the rig feels with it on. Just end up mashing the gas harder to achieve the same performance with Eco off.

2015 R/T
See around 14-15 city
21-24 highway, even with lot's of hills around here
Took a trip last week with the new trailer, 27' 5000lb dry weight and several 6-7% grades and averaged 9.5mpg.

2016 Durango R/T with 2200 miles; just did 500 miles on the highway today and averaged 21 mpg at 70-75 MPH and the last 50 miles in stop and go traffic. I am so far pleased with the mileage. I have been averaging 17-18 in combined otherwise.

Went from Queens, NY to Mystic, CT this weekend, 135 miles each way, hit 25 mpg going and coming, 70-75 mph, 23.5 total including driving around when I was there ~300 miles total. 2016 v8 and 8 speed is working out pretty well. I never hit better than 24 on my v6 GMC Acadia, so I'm a happy camper.

2015 SXT - Eco mode - 87 octane - getting about 13-14 mpg. Generally city driving... I don't even feel like I'm pressing the gas hard or anything. It's so bad on gas but I'm coming from a corolla as a daily driver... Threw an intake on and it didn't help much.

just got in it this morning. my wife is averaging 18 mixed city/hwy.

last weekend with the cruise set at 77 and a big thule box on top, 4 people, 2 dogs, and lots of stuff i got 21.8. If i watch i can get that to 23.5 or so.

if i slow down i can get it over 24. but that's also paying attention to how i drive and taking it easy on the hills.

Are you guys using 87? Or a different type of fuel? Because I feel like I am getting the lowest on the board? Any ideas? I am using 87? And it is a majority city driving.

16 R/t
Averaging around 16-17 in the city. Don't drive on higways that often.

V6? V8? AWD? Sure you're not using E85? Have you tried getting gas from a different station? Carrying a ton of lead in the back? That's unusually low.
V6 - AWD - One hundred percent its 87 - and Im only on my 2nd gas tank - I put an intake on. - i figured that would help a microbit. But i just feel like I am doing bad with it - I am driving with ECO Mode on too.

AWD adds a little drag (internal friction of all the added moving parts). Changing the induction will have some effect though I can see arguments for and against. I would have waiting until the car was broken in a little before making changes like that. The V6 runs on regular so that shouldn't be a problem. You don't say what city you're in but I'm from NYC and driving around there I wouldn't be surprised to see numbers that low. You are also jumping to worries too soon. Let it break in some more. Also, make sure you're doing the math not just relying on the computer. Make sure you fill it all the way up. Reset one of the trip odometers. Drive it till almost empty. Refill, again make sure you top it off to the same level as before. Check the trip odometer. Miles driven divided by gallons used.

PS - Apologies in advance. I'm not trying to insult your intelligence. You'd be amazed at how many really, really, smart people don't know how to accurately determine actual fuel mileage.

Oh, and do try gas from different stations over time but for this test refill from the same station. If you don't then you introduce error since the second station might be sourcing gasoline with a different mixture of ethanol. The signs usually say "Contains AT LEAST 10% ethanol." There's no telling how much is actually in their mix.

I am only relying on the systems gas mileage meter. Filled it, didn't really look at how much went in... Filled it to the top, walked in and paid... I am right out of NYC in Yonkers, NY and my drive to work is probably a little bit less stop and go than yours... Maybe I'll calculate it on my own but wouldn't the cars computer be the best way to calculate it and even if it is off, how off can it be? I did reset my trip meter though as soon as I filled up...

P.S... No offense taken. But a fun fact about me - I have a masters degree in Statistics. Lol.i really do figure the ECU would calculate things better than me?

Before I respond to the post, I'm new to the forum and I get little kid excited when someone replies to the thread I am in...

I guess it's just the city driving that destroys the mpg... I'm coming from a corolla as my daily driver so this is killing me man... It's not even the money to be honest with you. It's more the fact that I feel like I'm getting a 1/3 out of the gallon!

Well, a Durango is a lot more useful than a Corolla
Specially with my 1 year old son and the mountain of tools and utilities needed for him to operate. I can say cars come with an owners manual but he didn't.

Raising your son will be the most enjoyable experience you ever have. Love is more important than a manual
I'm figuring it out as I go! Certainly enjoying the time I have with him. He is safer in the Durango too :)
