Hi everyone!

Given that this is a "new" model (for a lack of a better term) - I am wondering what are the real MPGs for the 8-speed. Do you have the 6 or Hemi? What would you say is your city/highway ratio?

Just trying to get real world numbers to help me choose.

Thank you in advance!

My 2012 V6 crew would always average around 18. My 2014 RT averages around 18...
Best tank I've had so far driving back from the outer banks a few weeks ago. Found a station in VA without any ethanol crap in the gas. Got 23 on that tank (in the rt). Until I got hung up in major traffic. Still average came in at 21.

Our '12 V6 RWD Crew averaged around 18mpg (60% hwy 40% city). The '14 V6 RWD LTD averages around 19.5mpg in the same conditions. We managed to get around 22mpg (100% hwy) in the '12 and 23mpg in the '14. We have never been able to get the EPA number for highway mileage. Probably because we have 5 people and luggage, traveling around 75mph.

I got a big horn 1500 as a loaner and I noticed it has a 2wd 4wd button and the my Durango is just AWD all the time. Why didn't Dodge give us this option?

That Big Horn drove so well throttle wise without that AWD drag it feel in my Durango which really blows. My Mom is horrible and I am blaming that drag of the AWD as it feel like I'm driving with my parking brake on. I knew it wouldn't be great but I was hoping for a better feel and results. I'm not complaining as I understand how And works, just pointing it out.

Might be your imagination. One of my gen-I Ds had 2wd/4wd selectable, and it made no difference in the acceleration feel.

Without hubs that disengage, the same amount of machinery is turning in both 2WD and 4WD modes.

My Mom is horrible
Not sure I can help with that either ;)

I'm amazed that the V6 cars barely get better economy than the V8 optioned ones. I'm awfully glad I got the 5.7 in ours.

My 2014 JGC got 28 on the Highway a few times. Not much better than my Hemi D in the city. I averaged around 18.5-19 for the year that I owed the jeep that's around 50/50 mix driving. I am getting around 17.5-18 driving my D in the same type of driving and I am sure it would be better if I could keep foot from making that beautiful Hemi sing....

Been driving mine last last 2 days checking on job sites in PA. From Columbus to painville, oh and back I averaged 23.2, today from pickerington, Ohio to rochester, PA and back, I got 23.8. I know have just a little over 1100 total miles on my '14 RT.
I drove 70-75 the entire way. I'm pretty happy with that. That even was with eco mode on the entire time.

Just got home from a ~700 mile day trip. Almost all highway, a couple construction zones limited to either 45 or 55mph, little city. Kept cruise set around 75 (sometimes higher, sometimes lower, so 75 avg). Midwest altitude, not really humid (did hit one small storm in Iowa).

Dash said at end of trip 20.3mpg. Fuel receipts and odo says 20.1mpg. Had just under 1900 miles on the clock to start. My fill up technique was to let the pump shut off on it's own, then fill to the nearest $0.25 (was about 10 to 15 cents both times, so minimal fuel added after the pumps shut off). Different pumps may mean different sensitivities to know when to shut off, but close enough for me.

2 large adults with minimal extras. Ran air system on auto for about 80% of trip, but unknown if a/c was actually running. Temp outside was ~75-79*F, kept inside set at 72-75*. A couple of manual override acceleration blasts on the highway to pass or get away from possible DUI, and also a quick merge onto highway due to short ramp.

Just giving reference info.

'14 R/T AWD to clarify.

For a loaded up SUV including a hitch basket full of wood.... Is say that's damn fantastic!

I consider the EVIC readings to be "directionally accurate" as one of our managers likes to say. Sunday I returned home from a weekend in the mountains. Drove 300+ miles after filling up, about 75% highway at 65-70mph. When I filled up after getting home, the EVIC was showing 25.6 MPG, but the actual calculations came out to 23.5 - EVIC consistently shows 2-3 MPG high. Has anyone else compared the EVIC numbers to actual MPG calculations?

#119 ·
Yes. My EVIC is almost always exactly 2 mpg off. It reads higher than what I actually get. I have 8100 miles on it and have checked every single tank. Somewhere around 1500-2000 miles it was off by 1 mpg on one tank. And when towing a light load (~2000lbs) it's off around 1-2 mpg a tank. Otherwise normal driving 75/25 hwy/city it's very consistently 2 mpg off.

But my normal 75/25 driving yields me a consistent 23 mpg hand calculated. Not hyper miling it or anything. And I'm pretty happy with that.

For what it's worth here is my findings after putting 4k miles on the odometer so far.

Today I traveled 20 miles with a full tank of gas, windows closed, ac off, eco on and was going 75mph steady in central Nj during 65 degree weather and got 21.6 MPG average. No mods or passengers or any items in the vehicle. Tire pressure was checked price to ensure the cold pressure matched the door sticker.

Saw 13.2MPG as lowest when only driving around town - not much stop/go traffic. WHen I mix in a bit of highway driving - maybe 100 miles, then I typically end up with around 16.0 - 16.5MPG over the course of a tank of gas.

After our first week of "normal" driving for us, I filled up the tank even though it wasn't even half empty yet. I'm anal about not letting any of our vehicles get below the 1/2 way mark.

My wife had the D for almost the entire time. She did all city driving with lots of stop and go and put about 122 miles on it this week. Our hand calculated MPG was 11.0 for the first fill up. The trip meter showed 11.2 so ours is slightly off as well.

Just did a 4K (Honeymoon/roadtrip) in our Durango (V6 AWD) from MN to Florida, to the Carolina's and back. We averaged during this whole time 26.6 MPG including the road construction and the hill climbing up to the Blue Ridge Parkway. I have to admit I was impressed we got that good on a vehicle this large and how heavy it was with the back filled with all our stuff.

Cant beat that mileage Congratulations

I haven't rest the "B" trip gauge and over the last 5k miles my average is 22mpg. I'm sure idling doesn't help at all and there were some lead foot moments for sure. Definitely not upset. I'm still mid 20's with mixed driving in my V6

with the V6 AWD around the new york city boroughs with mostly stop and go (and not traffic stop and go, but stop at every other traffic light), I'm lucky to get 11mpg, although the millage on the car is still low (2K). We did take a small road trip (800miles) with various elevation climbs etc but not much slowing down. The car hit roughly 27mpg which was rather impressive.
