Anyone have an update about supposed strut tower braces???

This "unicorn" of a modification has been talked about, begged for, promised and generally tossed around in several places in this forum and others. Arrington made one for a while, but it wasn't particularly attractive and was expensive, yet sold out. No more made as far as I know. Black Ops promised that one was in active development, and was going to be amazing, yet seems to have dropped off the radar. Even a Forum member said he was really interested in fabricating one and offering them on the Forum. Haven't heard anything in a long time. Does anyone have an update on any or all of these options? It always seems like a number of people are interested, and the ones that were available from one company sold out. I don't get it. :???: Seems like someone with CAD and machining experience could do well with this if they had the inclination. Anyone???

I am following this on several pages. Looks like the 1st 10 have been ordered for the Jeep GC. Hopefully we can start ordering by the end of the month.

Don't hold your breath guys. Had a long talk with them and they are having machine shop issues. They have been waiting for months on the initial 10 which are already exceeding the the $599 target price and other shops are asking more than that just to make them. I doubt they will go to production because the cost would exceed what anyone would be willing to pay for them and leave no room for profit by BlackOps. Willing to bet the first 10 will end up on Jeep SRTs and then there will be no more made.

Is it that easy to copy something like this, cnc milled out of a solid chunk? I've ordered some small production stuff, and between the programming time and all, It got expensive real quick!

I do have a buddy that is in the automotive business, can probably get these made in taiwan for a fraction of the costs... min order of 1000 pieces i think

Manufacturing this is expensive. I am sure that if he can make at least some profit and release it for $599 he will move forward.

Not sure if you have been following this thread but blkops is having production issues and will only make a run of 10 as per member who spoke with them.
The tubular design is very strong so don't be fooled because is it not cnc unit.
I am simply trying to find another viable option for members.
I am not bashing USA manufacturing but I've seen this happen many times before.

Tube design is more labor to produce but a hell of a lot less pricey. Once a jig is made to copy the original unit then making them is actually pretty quick .

I am going to swing by a custom fabricator that does a ton of tubular chassis and 4x4 rock climbing custom work. Will see what they can come up with.

A+ for Effort RR.

It may have however it doesn't look like they are going to make more than the initial 10 due to costs and machine shop issues. The steel will provide plenty of rigidity if it is made correctly.

I seriously doubt there is any structural advantage to a "machined" part in this application.. certainly not enough to justify the major increase in manufacturing cost.

Appearance advantage? maybe, that's in the eye of the beholder.
