2021 DD Uconnect 5C 10.1" System Issues/Glitches (Share your experiences)

I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

I Just got a 21 DDSRT and I have the single profile issue, but one other little thing I noticed, is that there is no option to skip Sirius channels like in the UConnect 4, even though I swear I read in the manual that it was possible...I still havent played around with the system enough yet to notice more...

I have a 2021 RT and the green phone button on the wheel just brings up my call lists on the display. I was expecting the voice recognition would start like it does my my 2015 ram and 2015 JGC. I need to press the VR to make a call using voice recognition. The owners manual says "to start a call press the green phone button" but once would think the VR would kick in but it does not.
Also, the VR is not good and when it does not understand what you are saying it simply says, Pardon. Sometimes I can make a call using VR but text messaging fails every time.

What is your take on making a call, do you press the green button and the VR kicks in (or doesn't) or do you press the VR button and call that way?

Ok per a Mopar video I found on using the UC5 it showed pressing the VR button to make a call. So I guess the green button is simply for answering or bringing up the phone info onto the screen where you can manually call/dial from.

New issue: Even though my phone is paired, when I use the VR button and say, call "name" , the NAV says your phone is not connected, please wait a few minutes and try again. Crazy thing is, I can get inbound calls and can use the keypad on the NAV to dial out. I just can't use the VR button as it keeps giving the "not connected" message. I unpaired and re-paired with no success.
Poking around the NAV I saw under messages ,"downloading" but it would not change and my contacts do not show up. I called Uconnect and they had me reset bluetooth on the NAV by holding the VR and green phone buttons for 30 seconds. Then open the door for 30 seconds and close it but it did not work. The typical next statement from Uconnect was, take it to the dealer. :mad:
I decided to poke around the NAV some more and turned off Android Auto (on nav and phone even though I was not using it) but still no go. I then decided to RESET the system, not Factory RESET just RESET (reboot). That fixed it and things worked fine after that. 😁I am sure it will happen again but at least I know how to fix it until a software update comes out.

Chrysler needs to listen to the end users and fix things based on our input.

Case in point, back in 2015 I discovered a bug in my 2015 Ram (Hemi) Sport with 8 speed trans. If you were accelerating past 65MPH, it would NEVER upshift into 8th (or 7th can't remember). The dealer said NPF and when I took them for a drive showing them, all they did was open a star case which went nowhere. Luckily, a Chrysler Transmission Engineer who watched forums PM'd me about the issue. With the info I gave him they got a test mule from another customer on the forum that joined the conversation and duplicated it. It took a couple of months for the update to be released and when I got it, it worked. I wish Chrysler would have software engineers/managers check out forums like this trans engineer did. Things could be fixed faster or at least acknowledged as a known issue instead of being told to go to the dealer to waste your day due to no fix or TSB being available.

@Vice-White issues with Uconnect5 seems to happen more with Android OS. I know some owner here said they have issue also with carplay, but the pie share is more on the android side. There's some glitchy behavior with carplay that seem to occur with a specific task. I am not a programmer or anything close but to my opinion, a lot of th glitches and bug happen to me when for instance I jump in the car and open spotify to play music before the uconnect boot and do all the logtask and after couples second it start by itself.

I don't know how to say that because I am french and my lack of english do not help me, but to me uconnect5 needs to be handle softly and polite. Mines working better since I am not rushing any command or source play etc.

Like when on carplay (android auto for you), I hate the fack that if I listen to XM radio or local FM radio, If i open a video on snapchat or youtube it automaticly change source to be able to play the sound through carplay.

Don't get me wrong, I love the system and know these are just bugs. I know they will get fixed but Chrysler could fix things sooner if they monitored the forums.
I am glad the system is fast which means Chrysler gave it a good CPU and memory. Now we just need an update.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a bit of hot potato being played when it comes to the Uconnect system. DODGE put it in the vehicles, but in truth they don't know much about it. They basically expect the Uconnect folks to handle anything that happens with these things. IMHO, it appears Uconnect either doesn't want to work that way, or simply isn't prepared to do so. So neither of them is really doing a good job supporting the owners. The techs at the dealerships aren't trained on it, the customer service folks at DODGE know even less, and Uconnect hides behind a terrible internet site, and some slow-responding email addresses. Meanwhile we clearly have a system that is having initial deployment issues. It is no simple thing to build a system like this, but that isn't really a sufficient excuse when people can't get basic functions to work reliably. Hopefully there really is a new firmware release coming soon, and this isn't some story intended to buy their software developers additional time. The sad part is with Stellantis or FCA or Chrysler (or whatever they want to be called this week) their customer communications are so bad at this point we can't even guess what to believe anymore.

Picked up a new 2021 Durango R/T about 10 days ago. It has been in the service bay at the dealer since the second day I took delivery of it. The new Uconnect 5 10.1" had multiple issues (not working) and they have supposedly done a hard reset on the system to fix it. My question is related to TomTom connected services on the navigation. Before I returned the Durango for service, I had no traffic information, fuel information (with prices) or weather. Are these services downloaded directly from TomTom to the vehicle navigation system? How do I know if these services are working on my vehicle after I pick it up from being serviced? Very frustrating!! I have never purchased a new vehicle with so many issues.

TomTom does show fuel prices right on the map if you elect to show gas stations in the GPS options. I was told by uconnect that the weather is only in the weather app. I think a list of nearest gas stations with prices are available as a list in the marketplace (similar to the old Travel link) but since mine is broken at the moment I cannot confirm that. I would assume traffic info is also through TomTom.

I do have the gas stations selected within the GPS options and my vehicle still does not show the fuel prices. I new gas station was built two years ago less than 1/4 mile from my house and the GPS does not even show that gas station on the map. Weather also does not work when selecting that in the apps. It just spins and eventually says an error occurred. Traffic is supposed to be a connected service through TomTom, but it doesn't work either. No one within Uconnect has a clue about this new 10.1" system and cannot offer any help. I contacted TomTom on a live chat and the support person said that they do not support the 10.1" system. They only support the 5" and 7" in vehicle systems.

I spoke with Sirius and they said not them as this new system does not support Sirius Travel Link services.
Travel and Traffic Connected services are listed on my new car sticker so I am at a loss.
My Navigation works but not weather. The system tries to load it and I get an error saying Please try Later.
Almost like the service is down or I am not subscribed. I went to TomToms website and there is nothing about subscriptions for Cars so I think Uconnect is the controlling party.
I am not on the phone with them and yes, they have no idea so far.

I called Uconnect Services phone number and got a tech who said he works with the Uconnect testers and is bringing this to them.
He said he will call me back with more information and asked if directed, would I take my DDRT to the dealer so they can pull data from the system for the Uconnect testers.
I said sure am, so I suspect a call next week sometime, hopefully! By the way, the DDRT is so damn cool, comfy and fun to drive this is just an annoyance for me but a very intriguing one. Not until we are all working perfectly will I be done with this issue!

Driving around all day running errands, using wireless CarPlay, come home, then leave for dinner, and CarPlay is non-functional. Device Manager shows it attempting to connect, and the phones both show a Bluetooth connection, but nothing. Switch to SiriusXM. Come out after dinner, again, Bluetooth connected, no CarPlay. Delete one of the phones from uConnect, delete uConnect from the phone, re-pair, still no joy.

How does some something so fundamentally broken get put into production? And worse, with still no fix?

I opened the Uconnect app on my phone. In the upper right corner there is a layers tab. Make sure you have the "show traffic" and "view boundaries" switched on. I also have my iPhone set to show location while using the Uconnect app. I left the Uconnect app open and active on my phone when in the vehicle and traffic flow showed up, the weather worked, as well as fuel prices. The only glitch is when I set a route to go back home the traffic disappeared and I cannot get it to show up again. Very finicky.

Guess what, today my weather works. I got in the RT to take a cruise and as soon as it started and the UC5 booted, I went to the weather app and it worked.
Pretty damn awesome too as it gives you the weather in every town as you drive, huge icons and font, fits the screen perfect. I wonder if TomTom/Uconnect woke up yesterday and said hey, the weather sattelite is out of sync. Oh just synch'd and all things are good now.. OR... Uconnect did something to my account like maybe blowing it out and re-adding it. When the tech from Uconnect tells me what they did when he calls, I will post it up!

Did the factory reset last night. Didn't make any difference. Still have to have the Uconnect app open on my phone and then it is hit and miss on being able to receive traffic or weather. It shouldn't be this troublesome. Every other vehicle I have ever owned, you just get in and drive and everything (traffic flow, highway construction) shows up on the Nav screen.
Do you have Car Play or Android Auto enabled on your phone? I can't see how the Uconnect App has anything to do with the UC5 system for NAV unless maybe through Car Play or Android Auto.

No, I do not have Car Play enabled. I don't get it either. Only way I can get traffic to show up on the Nav is to have the Uconnect app open on my phone. And, I have to log out of the Uconnect app, then login again, set the layers to traffic flow, then the traffic on the map may show up, may not.

Fixed mine permanently.... by downgrading to Uconnect 4.

I did that by giving them back the Durango and I’m back in a scat pack Widebody... while I miss the Durango interior and “display” of the u5, u4 works every time and the sound of the 392 is special.

Besides I still have my sons Durango. His seems to be working ok lately.

Lol they do but I have problem with one new neighbor so I dont care what they think.... they destroyed my life with noise and traffic as they are trying to run a retail business from home, within an hoa lol, surrounded by 600,000$ homes. It’s absurd.

We ordered a 2021 GT Plus with the 10.1 and Uconnect 5 last year, took delivery of it in November and haven't been able to have more than one driver profile since then. Was told back then that a software update would happen in Q1 2021 to fix this known bug (along with the head unit randomly resetting). No update yet, called them this weekend and now it's "an update will be pushed out some time but no ETA". What a bunch of garbage.
