2021 DD Uconnect 5C 10.1" System Issues/Glitches (Share your experiences)

I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

I clicked the bell icon on the top of the screen and saw notifications. I say to myself, what is this sign into network notice so I tapped it.

I signed up and I now have internet access for streaming such as internet only siriusxm channels. Problem or should I say bug? No where can you find anything about your att account on the system so u have no idea how much data you used. Also the only place to see to sign up was in the notification icon. Anyway, this is my new find and bug for the day.

Just as an update. I too am still experiencing most of these :glitches: but at the request of @DodgeCares I made another appointment with my dealer to take it in so they could escalate it. After I did that and I sent in the vehicle vitals, as well as most of my issues that I see, I was contacted by UConnect Customer Care. My specialist took a phone call from me and had me expand on the issues I've seen. She asked some questions (does the UConnect act the same with USB as it does on Bluetooth?, etc). She then told me that it was her understanding that UConnect is working on trying to get a software update by the end of June to address these issues. It seems as though they won't argue it is software related, and that a decent update needs to happen otherwise us as customers will be less likely to continue with much patience at all. My specialist did say that my information is on the list to ensure I am notified when the update is ready, so I can ensure I am updated ASAP. She did have me cancel my appointment with my dealer, as my trips there for this issue have all netted the same result: the dealer can replicate it, they know it happens all the time and there is not much the dealer can do at their level until an update is released.

While I agree with all of us that this is very slow moving, I also don't want a bandaid fix that will only require more in-depth remedies in the near future. It would be more frustrating to see that only some of the :glitches: are fixed, and others remain. While I am SO ready for 100% functionality, like masks during the pandemic, I have lived with it this long a little more time won't kill me.

Found out that on mines, weather only work when I have no destination entered. Like if I enter an adress and press DRIVE to get direction, weather will never works.

When I am on free nav, it works 100% of the time.

I wonder if the SRT and Hellcat runs the same uconnect5 version as we hall have? They have lauch mode on screen and better performance pages, so maybe it's another software version?

Maybe it has already been discuss here, if so sorry for that.

Got in my DD today and my NAV said, hey want to go to work (not exact words) so I clicked OK and Nav started to take me to work. While on the way I check the weather and weather map and it worked. Just so you know the Nav tries to predict where you are going. And since I always leave my house for work around 7:15am, it new!! Pretty cool.

The 2021 backup cameras are a joke. It is embarrassing when I have passengers in my Durango. I've actually had people ask what is wrong with it. They were pretty bad 3 years ago on my first DD - a 2018 R/T, and they might actually be worse now. I think a $60k vehicle with a brand new hi-res Uconnect5 display deserves more than this piece of junk for a rear camera sensor. The entire module is commonly available for $130-$140, but I'd say it's probably a $5-10 sensor. $20 webcams have better picture quality. Completely unacceptable in terms of quality, and frankly dangerous for the lack of clarity. I guess this is the absolute minimum Dodge could put against a Federally regulated function. Ridiculous.

Here’s a new one.

Listening to SiriusXM (built-in, not the app). My wife’s iPhone is connected via wireless CarPlay, but CarPlay isn’t in use. When she goes to Facebook’s notifications area, the audio mutes on the dash/upper door speakers for a bit, then eventually returns. She views some posts, returns to notifications, audio’s muted again. I was driving at the time, so I’m not certain which speakers kept playing, but it did appear to continue playing out of the lower front door speakers and rear speakers.

She reports it also happens with AM and FM.

What a mess.

Uconnect rebooted yesterday for no reason.

Today touch screen was non-responsive. Nav was on and SiriusXM was playing, could change channels via the knob. Touching the screen did nothing.

Tried resetting via holding the power button.

Shutting off the car and waited 10 minutes then was working after starting up.


Where is the update???

The VR is 100 percent useless with the new uconnect 5C.
Half the time it tells me phone is not ready which then requires a bluetooth disconnect and reconnect.
The other half the time it says, "pardon" no matter what I say or it cancels the session.
I have tried saying single words like YES or Okay since anything longer fails 100 percent of the time.
Single words only work 30 percent of the time which is terrible.
In my 2015 Jeep and Ram, the VR works outstanding so unlike what Uconnect said, it is not how I speak.
I also had my first crash/reboot the other day when i went from Nav to Home back to Nav.
Yesterday the screen was not functioning with touch but steering controls worked. I needed to reboot the unit which fixed it.

2021 Durango Citadel Sirius radio says internet signal lost. Won't connect. Tried turning car off and on multiple times. Tried a soft reset holding volume and tune, came back on same issue. Sometimes it switches messages and says loading but the radio won't connect. This is a brand new car how can this be such a crappy radio.

I found this out too. Not sure why the Uconnect doesn't always connect my phone right away, but I have found if I hit the phone icon on the screen, and then place a call request, it seems to work better.

Very strange issue I had this weekend... I was cruising on the highway, towing my camper, and I hit the off button for the air conditioning to listen for a rattle from my childs car seat. When I went to turn the air conditioning back on, the fan wouldn't turn on! NO AIR CONDITIONING! The back AC fan would run but nothing in the front. It freaked me out... I reset the Uconnect 5 and still nothing. I eventually pulled off the road, cycled off and on the car and the air conditioning started working again. I didn't try to replicate the issue. If someone here can try turning the fan completely off with the off button while driving, see if you can turn it back on by turning the fan knob up.

So I had the issue where the wound wouldn't play and the phone wouldn’t connect either, no even with the wire. I followed the reset instruction I believe on page 6 or 7 and didn’t work. So I actually realized under applecar play that I had several Uconnect profiles from my previous car and my wife’s car. So I deleted them all and re-synced the phone. No issues yet I’ll report if something happens.
