What a mess, there’s so much information, conflicting numbers, and all of it is worded “just right”. Makes me sick realizing how hard companies try to save a buck and not look out for the consumer (people giving them said buck). Honestly how much does that port save them by not having it available.

Back to the question of the missing 4-pole brake controller plug on the mid-2018 + models, and if the factory could have wisely installed a different harness, to be ready to add on later the new factory brake controller?
I did some Investigations on my 2019 GC, looked behind the radio, traced wires, etc. I was looking for a harness with the four wires: (1) 12 V (coming from fuse F11, 30 A), feeding the brake controller, (2) the output of the brake controller (both (1) and (2) should least be in 12 AWG), and (3) the brake light signal and last (4) the ground (both probably in 14 AWG).
Unfortunately there wasn't any harness.

Even the fuse F11 (which is in fuse box, output on Plug C6, Pin 1) was not even connected with a wire. That to know alone concludes, there is no harness for the brake controller factory installed, even though fuse (F11) was physically provided as part of the trailer tow wire harness which comes with the new fuse box. The new fuse box is only different to the old one, because the extra 6 trailer tow fuses, which were away rationalized with the harness on the mid 2018 + models.
My truck is a 3.6L 2019 Grand Cherokee Limited, not a Durango, but same issue, guess, we can safely assume you won't have a brake controller harness either.

Looks like in a different thread some of the members have figured out how to make the Brake Controller work while missing the 4 Pin connector. Not nearly as easy as just plugging it in, but seems like able to be done by a competent shop

One would think the manufacturer would come up with a TSB for this F**k up. I did submit to NCDS and started the arbitration process. I am asking for reimbursement of what I have invested in towing accessories on my truck I just traded in for the new R/T with tow group. The more Jeep and Dodge owners that filed the better resolution. It was pretty easy and I have nothing to lose. Well... I just want what I paid for! Hang in there guys this whole thing really sucks. I will be camping next week with the
110372
new truck with factory tow group let's see how it goes.

Congrats Shelby, hope this is the one for you

Ok my dealer is not as accommodating as Shelby’s but so be it. Shelby, love the white on black. Your next project can be to add those blue stripes on your own, I thought I could wrap with vinyl, forget that. Would need another thread to discuss that undertaking. Anyway, I ordered the Bluetooth receiver. I’m going to play with that for a bit and will update you all on what my experience is with it. I hate that I had to revert to that but time is of the essence. Bluetooth/NFC are both localized and doesn’t have dependency on WiFi or data. So I hope once the app is open and operable the convection between the connector and mobile device is solid. I just spoke with my neighbor and told him about my experience and said that Dodge is known for random and meaningless engineering changes. He did however mention like MJreiland did Im the other thread that a good shop could likely run an appropriate module etc. I’ll check out the link you all included to report my concern. For time being Bluetooth test here we come. Thanks all I appreciate the assistance. Shelby let me know if you decide to wrap those stripes on the new one. Oh and stop rubbing it in that you have a factory tow package now hahaha.

Have the same PUP, heading out this coming week. Did the Porsche have a brake controller? I sincerely feel awful for your situation. So unfair. Any luck or updates? Can your dealership work something out? Maybe a Trailhawk GC pretty sure they are are equipped with tow group. Don't give up. You have good taste in campers

Please let me know how the new unit works. Working on a new stripe scheme now. Was thinking fender stripes. I know that I will see my old truck around this small town. It's going to bother me. Bitter sweet! Well I hope everyone makes it camping, who knows maybe we will all run into each other some day and have a beer around a camp fire. Good luck man and persu this wrong doing. Such bullshit!

Will do. I see my Charger around town all the time. It was an Hellcat and it was black on black with red racing stripes. It was bitter sweet at first but over time I’m like oh there it is. I’m glad someone else is enjoying it. It would be cool to join y’all for a beer one day. Who knows. I’m in NC so if y’all ever out this way look me up! Safe travels to this camping and pulling trailers with their non-equipped vehicles. I’ll send updates once I get this Bluetooth device.

Thanks, Shelby.
Yes, ordered the Macan with towing package, but added a brake controller myself. Of course, the 4-pin plug was there. On my GC; harness, hitch and brake controller are installed. It needs now only to be dealer activated.
Very difficult to find a newer one with factory towing package. Regardless, factory or self/dealer installed the truck has still the same engine- and brake power. About the travel trailer. maybe on another forum, if you like, I can tell you about I added a 2000/4000 Watt pure sinus inverter, such a convenience, which powers my refrigerator when traveling, runs also the coffee maker in breaks, etc..

So if the dealer offers an add on Trailer Hitch and wiring from the parts department, a Mopar add on for my VIN that I purchased and had installed at the dealership . Come to find out the Mopar brake controller listed for the same vehicle can't be added, you all think that's ok? Why is it offered?
If I purchased a vehicle that originally did not come with a factory integrated controller (the ITBM in this case), I would not expect that the controller could necessarily be added after-the-fact and integrate exactly as it does when installed on a factory-optioned vehicle.

I would expect, however, that the add-on harnessing (82216007AB or 82216008AC) that is sold to add trailering capabilities using the Dodge-branded or an aftermarket external controller could be added. The controller sold by Dodge for retro-fit does not integrate into the vehicle's systems like the 2019+ factory tow package. It functions like a Tekonsha, Curt, etc, controller.

There seems to be some sort of disconnect between Dodge, the dealership(s) sales and service departments, and the customer(s) regarding the 2019+ towing packages and retro-fit expectations.
