I'm tossing around some ideas. If the engine in the Durango isn't repairable, would a 5.9 work in a 01 with 4.7 engine? I know I'd have to swap computers, but I wonder if they'd plug right up? I figure motor mounts should bolt right up as long as I use the 5.9's, but I don't think the 4.7 tranny will work either? I'd have to get a 5.9+transmission+computer and it'd have to be at least a 01 right? Would it all interchange as long as it's all changed out? I can't find a thread where someone has done this? It may be more trouble than its worth may have to keep the 4.7? :?
just some ideas tossing around in my head!

Save yourself a lot of headaches and wallet ache and stick with the 4.7! :?

The Hemi is the most desirable swap, but will no doubt cost some major $$ and time
Of course the replacement 4.7 will drop right in
You should be able to fix the one you have

Keep the 4.7 if you're not too concerned with a performance or power upgrade. However, if you have some money to play with and you're serious about an engine swap, go for the 5.7 Hemi - no need for a new tranny, just new PCM and harnesses; a lot of work though, if you're up to it. I'm planning the swap next year and as it stands now, I'd rather have a shop do it.

Is there something wrong with the 4.7 in there now?
