Won't Start

I drove my 2018 Citadel on Monday with no issues. I went to start it this morning with a strange result. The start button was stuck in "RUN" and the screen started scrolling thru many warning messages. All the lights on the shifter were lit up. It was generally wacko. And of course it wouldn't start. I saw something on line about restarting the computer, but before doing anything rash, I thought I would ask for some advice. Anybody seen this before? Thanks.

I could be your batteries, especially if they are original or pretty old. You would need to have them load tested and if one doesn't come back at 100% then replace them both. This is if you have the V6 which uses two batteries. If you only had the "stuck RUN button" then I would have said to look at that or the START module but with other issues too then that is generally a bad battery. Both batts have to be replaced together.

Batteries X 2! They are near, at, or over 7 years old. Have them properly load tested, and replace both if either one comes back less than 100%

Congrats on having your Durango back on the road.

I sure wish we could make this a sticky to come up at the top of the problem section. The number of folks who "just can't believe" their 7/8/9 years or older battery (ies) could be bad because it started fine the last 883 times is ridiculous!!!!

Even if it starts and runs, that is no guarantee of its health.

These will go to 7 or 8 years due to being in the interior of the car.

Interesting theory. The ones in my '20 SXT built 08/19 are still purring along at 6 years this August. It would not bother me at all to get a couple more years out of them.

AGM of course. That's all they put in them from the factory. In fact, inside the car or in the trunk as my Charger was, the battery HAS to be AGM.
