Anybody else get one of those recall letters from FCA about the Uconnect? They sent me one with the little usb chip to do the update. Just seeing if anyone else got it and if there were any notable changes afterwards.

Got mine yesterday also. Have not updated yet.

Haha, no one ever wants to go first! Did mine almost two weeks ago. Only issue ice found which I'm guessing is related us with the Nav. When I pull a recently found address, the map always faces north. I have to go into the settings and change it to face forward (or whatever is called)

Got mine last week. Did the update, took about 20-25 minutes. All is well.

WOW 20 mins +! Did you sit there and babysit in ACC? Can you drive around while its updating? I know about programming modules in cars etc. It's imperative to keep a strong battery going for the duration, so I was wondering how you did it? How you knew it was complete?

I had mine done at the dealership this morning. There is no noticeable difference. this update is for the security of the Uconnect system, so no one can hack it. I don't think it had any other significant features, such as sub woofer fix.

IIRC, Engine was running during most of the process. FCA includes detailed step-by-step instructions with pics. so that anyone, regardless of skill level could do it. It's a very simple process. Literally anyone between the ages of 8 and 80 can do it.

They include screen shots of what you should be seeing on UCONNECT screen throughout the process including info on what % is completed. Manual said it could take up to 35 minutes but as I stated in O.P., only took about 20.

Also they recommend you don't leave the D unattended when doing update for the simple fact that it is unwise to leave a running vehicle unattended. I used the time to clean interior. ( vacuum carpet, clean all glass, leather conditioner etc.)

Damn, you can get all that done in 25 minutes? Takes me half a day.

I think you mean to say-

“it corrects the current publically identified sprint network hacking vulnerabilities”

You can still hack it with a USB drive or wifi connection and there could be other ways through the internet/sprint's network that this does not address. Although it looks like sprint locked down their firewall rules to isolate devices so you'd have to mimic the uconnect servers which i'm (completely not) sure are nice and secure.

Also the sub woofer/ ew issue is a fixed in a separate flash of another device- has it's own TSB.
