I'm not sure if it is different being on an AWD vs a front wheel drive.
My previous front wheel drive car had Traction Control and it was actually pretty decent during the winter. If one of the front wheels started spinning it switched power over to the other wheel and then back to the spinning one over and over .. etc etc. Helped me in the snow a bunch!

Now, with this being all-wheel drive I would assume it works sort of the same way... but possibly with all 4 wheels?
In my durango, with TC off, I can spin the tires when pulling out onto a road while it is wet. If the TC is on I just take off real nice with no spin.

** Took this from Wikipedia: "All-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles often have an electronically-controlled coupling system in the transfer case or transaxle engaged (active part-time AWD), or locked-up tighter (in a true full-time set up driving all wheels with some power all the time) to supply non-slipping wheels with (more) torque."

Traction control applies the brakes to the wheel or wheels that are slipping, therefor transferring power to the non slipping wheel via the differential. It also allows the torque converter in the transmission to slip, and at the same time retards the timing of the engine. Yes it makes a difference. My D is 2wd, and with TC on, it will not do a burn out, but with it off it will do a very impressive and smokey burn out.

Do you just turn off the traction control or do you also need to disable econ mode?

Post a video or it doesn't happen.. . :)

8th. My AWD won't light them up for anything....stupid torque management. haha

I"ll try to do a video, but I have to wait until I can get my 14 year old to record it for me, and my wife is at work.:naughty::naughty::naughty:
