Like I posted in one of those posts you have grouped together, I had this problem also and it was right after I had my D in for an oil change and I didnt notice till a few days later the nit wits at the dealer had overfilled the oil by almost a quart I went to a buddys shop and adjusted the level and MAGIC no more smoke, I was hunting this weekend and one of the guys in my crew has a '14 JGC he started it up and lotsa blue smoke, I check the dip and HELLO about a quart over. oh yeah we both use the same dealer, go figure, so check your oil before you start pulling pans and windage trays and all that. I hope this helps some....Good Luck....

Overfilling will always cause this!!!!

I think were onto something with oil levels. I say oil is "hiding" in this engine! I don't know if it's the windage tray, the valley over the cam, etc. I have been obsessing with pulling the stick in my driveway, and I get a different reading everytime!
I'm going to try, before the first start of the day, check and if it's off, Im going to jack a corner and see what happens. Getting frustrating.

Good idea to combine the threads

I would think the same thing... But it's not consistent and has no relationship to how long it sits.

I don't drive it much but there have been several occasions where it has sat overnight and there was no smoke at startup.

I'm really thinking that the manifold might be the problem... I would think valves or seals would be more consistent

And the dealer has already diagnosed and had the intake manifold off to pressure test and the pcv passage is leaking...

They have replicated it... It's part of a staircase s1418000028. I'm assuming a starcase is the same or similar to a tsb.

It stated on my work order from the last visit that they removed the intake and pressure tested it and found a leak in the pcv passage... My guess is it leaks from the passage to the intake tract. Going to take some pictures of the old one... Hopefully it will be done today

Ok... Little update on my durango.

I had my intake replaced last weekend... Too early to say if my oil consumption has stopped but I can say that it still smokes blue at startup...

I did notice some oil dripping down onto the air filter... Seems there is a hose that comes from near where the oil fill is... And of course there's a hose that comes from the pcv valve and back to the intake (it's on the opposite side of the intake. Wondering if anyone has noticed oil in there air box? I didn't have much...

So I've been told that the smoke problem is common and that my dealer has several on the lot that smoke at startup... He's been told that dodge will not look into it until there is 10000 km's or more... They say the smoking should stop after that...

I had set up a TSB pan replace/PCM refresh and just cancelled it. After reading here I went to the garage and checked my oil level. Dipstick was a quart high, so I changed my appointment to an oil change and hopefully, a better tech.

Good read here all especially from a repeat owner. Had a 2012 R/T Durango with the smoking issue. It is more embarrassing than a performance point. The windage tray and oil pan were replaced with the tsb and that resolved it. Now with my 2014 R/T it has been in the shop for 3 times. The first time it was too early and the TSB's were not out, so the shop pressure tested, found an issue with cylinder 8 where the piston rings were not set correctly. They also found metal shavings in the oil pan, so the pan, and lower block along with the pistons/ rings were replaced. This was all 3+ weeks without her. Went to pick up the car and right on the dealers parking lot I remote started just to see a big smoke pool. Car went into the shop again and this time it was the TSB to replace the intake manifold and PCV valve. Same deal, got it back and still smoked. It is in now and the whole process is being repeated. We should all complain to Dodge/ Chrylser because we pay too much for these cars to deal with such headaches! By the way I was just told my D consumed a quart and a half in the past month alone!!!! Anyone got their issues resolved yet?

2014 R/T owner checking in with the blue smoke issue as well. I have two instances on video and a photo of what I believe to be an overfilled dipstick that I sent to my service manager after they initially 'could not replicate the issue' and told me the oil was filled appropriately. Based on the vehicle's build date the upgraded oil pan was installed from the factory.

Long story short, STAR suggested they drain and refill the oil with 7 quarts (quart bottles vs. bulk oil gun) to rule out oil gun calibration/ dipstick error. They have had the car for a couple of days and run through a gamut of test, start and drive to temp, sit for a various durations and start again, etc. and no issues - so they say. I am picking it up this afternoon and will report back.

Best of luck to all others here!

I'm also having the blue smoke issue. I have not been able to find a pattern on when it happens.

It will happen after:

sitting overnight
Early morning
Afternoon
On a slight hill
On a flat spot in the afternoon
Morning that I picked it up from the dealership
Hot day
Chilly day
Rainy day

The dealership has had it for three weeks over three different sessions.

They've replaced the intake manifold. Tried to drain and fill the oil to seven quarts. Told me it is normal (right...).

I have now started filming it every time I start it using remote start. I emailed the President of Chrysler Fiat yesterday in frustration. Someone from their executive response team emailed me last night. I sent him one of my videos.

moosic my driveway slopes similarly at the street end then it is level at the house. Wife usually beats me home so i get the slope.

One time when i parked overnight when it was pretty new (say under a month) i got a MUCH bigger blue smoke cloud. I almost had a stroke. But literally that was the only time it did it. Never again. So i'd say it shouldn't be doing that all the time.

I don't think it should ever do it. I've parked three other SUVs in the same driveway with no issues over the years.

Tahoe LTZ
Traverse LTZ
Murano

I have it back. They couldn't replicate the issue, so they said there was nothing they could do. Corporate swears it was too much oil. It blew smoke after the last time they swore they put in exactly seven quarts. We'll see what happens.

After I've done my own oil changes, with 7qts, I've only had blue smoke when parked significantly nose high, and even then not always.

What is everybody's build date? if your build date is after October 1, 2013, then in theory the TSB fix was applied at the factory.

Mine is June 2013

My build date is before that and I do not see any smoke
Essentially always making sure its 7 qts only not a drop more
