I thought I might get creative and make this first post an index, being captain OCD and all.

Finally got around to swapping over the 01-03 gauge needles that I've had laying around for a while. The tach and speedo went on easiest (other than making sure they're aligned properly). The other gauges still go on, but you can't quite push the needles down quite as far as the old ones were otherwise the needle won't be able to move smoothly. This isn't really that big of a deal, it just means there will be a bit more parallax if you're not looking at the needles straight on.

I don't know why the speedo and tach needles look yellower than the rest in the picture.

I was driving around out in the field yesterday testing out my new transfer case and apparently my dad got bored, so he decided we needed to have a drag race. His Silverado has a 454 bored out to 461 with a bunch of goodies on it. We don't know for sure, but it's estimated at ~375hp and ~550lbft. His tires are pretty crappy though and I have better gearing on my side, so I was able to beat him.

Went to the Flight 93 Memorial (or at least what's been built so far) today

Changed out the bulbs to leds in the climate controls and defrost/wiper switch to match the gauges. The pictures came out blurry and I can't be bothered to go back outside and take more pictures.

Went out to the quad trails at the state forest today.

And of course knowing my luck on the way back something flew up off the road from under a trailer (not sure if it was already on the road or not). I thought it just went under the car and hit the skid plate, but apparently it hit the lower plastic portion of the bumper and gouged it.

Figures that I can't have anything stay nice for more than a week. Anyway I ordered some plastic filler, paint, and clear coat from amazon so I can fix it.

I repainted my tail light covers the other day since the clearcoat I used the last time didn't hold up to the sun.

Here was the untouched one on the left and the sanded down one on the right.

Here's after several coats of paint and clearcoat. The one on the right was how the clear dried, and the one on the left was wetsanded from 400 up to 3000 grit.

Both wetsanded with 3000 grit and the one on the right was also polished with Meguairs ultimate polish.

Both polished and put back on.

Finally got around to something to put in here. After 16 years the finish on a couple of my wheels are starting to get a bit worse for wear. I plan on getting a set of 17" R/T wheels down the road, so I don't want to spend money refinishing these old wheels, but at the same time they have brand new tires on them, so they're not getting replaced for a good while. I found these wheel covers on Amazon for $35 so I figured they'll do for now until I get new wheels down the road.

Peeling finish on one of the old wheels. Never been curbed or hit by anything, it just deteriorated.

Same wheel but with cover.

Wasn't sure if I'd like the chrome or not, but I don't think it looks too badly. Certainly much better than the peeling aluminum. I guess now I just need to find chrome center caps.

Decent look for $35
I have them on my work truck

First - Nice look

Second - Nice deal

Third, you could always "DIP" the center cap with the Blue PlastiDip. It is removable if you grow tired of it.

There is also chrome or "blue chrome" lugnuts too.

I have the 16" versions, and I wish I could've scored that $35 deal. I think mine were $60? a few years ago. I wish I had known about PlastiDip when I painted my center caps black. I also added Single-piece Black Lug Nuts too. Makes my D look different than any other on the road.

Thanks! I did buy new lugnuts once, but when they got delivered I didn't like how the seating area of them was smaller (Thread). I've thought about getting some black plastidip for them, but I don't have much else black that it would blend in with. They need to invent chrome plastidip!

Finally got something I've wanted for a while. Harland Sharp 1.7 roller rockers and the aluminum Mopar Performance valve covers.

Image

Masked off the top part of the valve covers and painted the main part of them with enamel engine paint.

Painted the lettering with brush on enamel.

Got the covers cleared now. They're in the bathroom with the exhaust fan on to dry since it's getting humid outside.

Unfortunately it's going to be storming here in an hour or so, so I'm going to have to wait until next weekend to install them and the rockers.
