TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE - 8HP45/8HP70
The valve body includes the Transmission Control Module (TCM), all solenoids and sensors, and can
be referred to as the Transmission Control Module Assembly (TCMA). The TCM is attached to the
valve body between the transmission case and the valve body. If any component of the valve body
including the TCM sensors or solenoids needs to be replaced, the complete TCMA (valve body)
must be replaced. For further information of the TCMA, Refer to VALVE BODY, DESCRIPTION or
VALVE BODY, DESCRIPTION .
STANDARD PROCEDURE
TCM ADAPTATION - 845RE/8HP45/8HP70
The 845RE/8HP45/8HP70 transmission continuously self calibrates and learns shift points and clutch
apply times. It is necessary to perform a drive cycle to provide the proper baseline transmission
adaptation. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

Wonder if swapping in a valve body from a scatpack which would have different TCM programming would result in scatpack like shifting???
Just get a TCM tune

How did you end up having to replace it? Haven't ever seen anything about anyone have a problem with it.

Sorry I can't help. Never had to deal with this.

Hello I have a 2014 dodge dunrango and need to replace the tcm do anyone know where is that located and if I have to let a shop fix it
Now that I've actually taken an 8HP70 apart and rebuilt it...The TCM/valve body is located on the bottom of the transmission accessible when the trans pan is removed. The TCM isn't particularly hard to remove but any new or used TCM needs to be reprogrammed to work with your particular vehicle.
This is where either a mechanic, dealer or a transmission shop might have the necessary equipment/software, or it'll need to be sent off to someone that does.

Has anyone 2014 Durango or later had their TCM/Valve body replaced? Either themselves, dealer or other mechanic? Did you get TCM/Valve body part from dealer or after market? If aftermarket, has it been good? Who did your programming?
Long story....I have a 2016 Durango 3.6L. The TCM/Valve body is bad. I can explain later as to the how I know this if anybody cares. Right now the Durango is at the dealer. The TCM/Valve body part is on back order and it's taking them a while to find it at another dealer.
I thought the TCM/Valve body was a dealer only item. It seems it's not. Looking for other stories of changing this thing out and how it went. Trying to determine if I really should get the part from the dealer. Thx.

Get a dealer part. It's recommended for the highly technical parts and for sensors.
