2008 SLT Hemi
So, went to a tire shop to get all the TPS replaced. I have the Mopar TPS that I wanted them to install. They said that they couldn't do it because the lug nuts are swollen and they are concerned that it might break when they try to take it off. And, that's their policy.
Anyone heard of this before?
Had this issue with every Dodge I've owned since 95. The Midas shop near me has a couple sockets that are .5mm larger to help them get these swollen nuts off. Matco also sells a set of sockets HGLN4 for removing damaged lug nuts.

Change the Lugs!! I used "McGard"

My story:
I owned a 2005 Magnum. In 2007, I didn't have time to do an oil change myself so I took it to the dealer. they offered a free tire rotation.

When I got the car back, I always check the lug nut torque. I don't even jack it up, just do one lug at a time with an impact and a torque wrench.
Easy! until I got to the drivers rear wheel. There where 2 nuts I could not get off no matter what! (Jacked up, 120psi impact, 3 foot pipe on a 1/2" socket wrench....)

So, back to the dealer! They gave me a loaner and said they will work on it. a few hours later I get a call; " ...... we are sorry Sir, But we had to cut two studs off to get the wheel off,
in the process we destroyed the rim. Rest assured, we are going to replace the rim, studs and lock nuts" Oddly enough, they didn't seem overly concerned! Like they might have seen this before.

Now I check the wheel, lug nuts and studs. everything looks great, But wait, there's more, I compared the 'New' lug nut with the OEM. Lo and behold they are different!
New is 'solid' chrome steel while OEM is steel with a chrome cap, the steel acorn portion has a gold tint to it! [Cheap inferior metal per haps?]

I changed all lug nuts to McGard and torque to spec. Never had another problem with the wheels.
On a side note, I did contact FCA and reported to the NHTSA! Both said they will look into it.

Same here. Swollen nuts, fever, finally got rid of swollen nuts and ended up with 21mm(was22mm)
Broke 1/2" x 18" breaker bar after 1100lbs-ft impact did not loosen 5 nuts.
That's why I have a 36" 3/4" drive with impact socket. That did it.

Problem is acorn nuts' seat angle is less than rim seat angle. This creates a wedge.

Piss poor design. Wrong geometry, cheap tin cap over nut.

p.s.
never sieze back of rim where it contacts drums in rear/rotors in front.
ya'll thank me in the morning
