Should my stock 2000 D SLT+ radio head unit have the option to plug a CD changer into the back of it?

There's a odd little icon next to the preset 1 button.

TIA.

What option code is your radio? I could probably find out easily enough.

The option code is on the face of the radio in tiny almost illegible letters. Something like "RBR" or "RAZ".

Snap a pic of it if you can too. That might help me decipher it if you don't have the option code.

I took a photo, with the cell phone and the camera, but the focal point of them both being so close, makes the photos suck.

The only thing is an odd icon on the #1 preset. The #5 preset says "random" and that random plays the CD order.

The "little letters" say "RAZ" and you're right, I never saw those before, even after all this time.

TIA,

I think you're seeing the Dolby symbol? DD, mirror image the second D. I don't think these ones have the din input. mine didn't, I used an RF Modulated multi disk player.

In that year, the option code RAZ radio didn't have an auxillary CD changer input. I went out on the lot and looked at a Dodge truck that has this same radio, and the odd symbol on the #1 preset is the Dolby noise reduction when you're playing a tape, and the #5 is the "RNDM" or shuffle play when you're playing a CD.

My '01 (actually it's an '03 Intrepid radio) has the same option code on its radio, but it has CD changer controls, satellite radio input, and RDS capability.
Chrysler's RDS system isn't that great though? It streams the messages rather than storing them in memory before displaying them, so I get wierd things once in a while, particularly when the reception isn't real strong. Like if I'm listening to 94.7 The Razor, it'll sometimes get stuck in midstream and display something like "4.7 RAR OR ZOR 9" I just laugh at it and ignore it.

Can anyone post instructions for removing the factory head unit?

Thanks
PM me if you like, I can scan them and send them along. Its easier than it seems, I'm a pro at it now after so many XM Direct units being swapped out. Hell I'll be ripping it apart on Monday probably, maybe if I remember I'll take pics as I do it.

What's the deal with XM? I barely see any units for sale at Wal-Mart and places. Not a whole lot of Sirius either as of late.

Someone mentioned they heard a rumour that one of the two was going under. Just curious if there was any truth to that or not.

Would that be part of the reason why a lot of them are getting removed?

XM is a much stronger stock verses Sirius. Neither however turn profits yet and it's hard to run a business of that size without profits. Each are struggling to gain new subscribers in volume. With the money they've each paid out (startup costs and content costs like Oprah, Howard Stern, Opie and Anthony, etc.) they plan on getting legs and having some staying power.

My guess is with the holidays right around the corner, and the buying season that comes with such? in addition to the electronics shows thereafter? all lead to new models on the way and if there's a lack of items now it's due to changeovers from last year's models.

Also, the packaging on the units has changed so much that they're in the CD, games, TVs, radios, etc. area at Walmart here and not in the car stereo section or automobile parts department. They're packing them very small.

I disagree. Sirius just passed the 5.1 million mark for 3rd quarter. Not too bad considering a short time ago they were at 700,000. The radios are flying off the shelves. Many models are already sold out. Each quarter they're beating their projections. XM has to lower theirs. I bet you can tell which one I have ;)

Any financial analysis of the two will show neither to be a strong stock. On the technicals, you want to see at least a 5 out of 10 score. These stocks are 1/2 and 0/2 respectively.

As for the charts, both? well? suck. See Pix below.

Opinion and facts are varied by emotion. Investing should be emotionless (i.e. "should be" although try that after a big gain, or huge loss :( .) Just because you own it and use it doesn't make it right to invest in it (like my big losses in McLeodUSA :( )
