Replace the rear bulb. Fast flashing is the built in warning. A burnt out bulb decreases the resistance in the circuit.
 
IIRC the rear is a 3157 dual filament bulb, so the filament for the turn signal probably burn out even though the other filament may still be working. Easy way to find out, just change the bulb.
 
on a 10-year-old vehicle, check for corrosion on the socket contacts when you change the bulb.

If things aren't nice and shiny clean, the new bulb will soon fry itself.

So true!! I had to buy the yellow socket for my 2k3. It looked like it had been corroded and a little burnt. Once I replaced it the light was fine.
