OK, the one year 'free' Sirrus subscription is about up, and they are calling my cell phone and sending enough paper mail to kill a forest. My wife wants to continue the service, but I was wondering if anyone had successfully told the salesperson "I will renew for $XX/month for a year, take it or leave it." It is my understanding if you let it lapse then they will keep coming back lowering the price each time until you rejoin or blow them off, but I just want to skip the back and forth crap with the sales personnel.

I personally never had this experience. I have always had it in my Nitro but when the wife stopped using hers after a year was up, my price actually went up since they gave a deal for multiple users even though her's was free for a year. I never tried to negotiate with them but I can tell you I never experienced them lowering the price just to get me back.
It is probably different for everyone though.

You can get them to give u a trial deal for around $5 a month for the 1st 6 mos and then it goes to the regular price after that. Just remember to call back before the price goes up and say you want the trial price extended or you are leaving. My friend does this and it works, but I think he only gets the base package.

You can get a 5 month for $20 deal. I get that offer all the time.

I just received a 3 month free trial after not renewing subscription for an entire year. I said okay and started using the satellite radio again but reception is horrible! Cuts out several times while driving and says "acquiring signal". I will not be renewing ANY time soon.

About 10 years ago I got sat radio, used for a year and didn't renew. They bugged me for months, and I ignored. Someone called and said they had an offer I wouldn't be able to refuse. Lifetime subscription for $300 and i'd only have to pay something like $10 each time I transfer my subscription to a new radio. Sold. Each of my new vehicles had a year subscription and each I let lapse after the year, and each I negotiated a great price after ignoring them for a while. Now I can't live without sat radio. Make them give you a good deal. I wonder if we (as in this group) could barter for better pricing. We have one in each vehicle and I've never been able to negotiate that good of a lifetime subscription again. Best I was offered was about $500 which is still worth it for anyone who keeps more than four years

I have not got my new Durango yet, but I had sat radio in my truck at work. Daughter and son in law got it for us, and each renewal. Rather then hard wire it I run it through the am/fm radio in the truck. I always got good reception except when the station I was using was being used by a real radio station as I was moving out of the area. Worked pretty good except when all 5 stations were being used, and I had to find another unused station. I had the basic package and every so often they would open up some other channels for 2-3 days. Coming back from Oklahoma I listened to 5 hours of the Elvis station. Can't beat that now, kenya?
