In the past few days, coinciding with the onset of cooler weather, the remote start on my 2014 R/T has not been working properly. The lights flash, I can hear the “click” and it sounds like the solenoid engages, but it won’t start.

After this occurs, the screen displays “remote start disabled.”

The push button works fine as do all
Other remote functions on the fob.

Oddly, once the vehicle has been driven a bit, the remote start works properly. If it sits for an hour or more, the problem reoccurs.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this issue? Thanks!

How old is your battery? If it is older and a little weak, the remote start may not work. Not that it sounds like an issue with you, but if you have below 1/4 tank (I believe) of fuel, remote start is also disabled.

It still might be a good idea to get the battery load tested, especially if it is a few years old. Reading this forum for the past 7+ years, I've learned that a number of odd, seemingly unrelated issues start with battery condition. The battery may be strong enough to start the car normally, and has enough power for the remote start to work when it is fresh after it has been charging while the car is running, but if the power drops after it has sit a while, it triggers something in the remote start logic.

X 2 on having the battery tested. If yours is oem, it's at least 7 years old. Any battery at that age, is one start away from the DBC, or dead battery club. Batteries these days, do much more than simply run the starter.
If it comes back good, at least you have ruled it out. If not, you have saved yourself from being stranded when it does croak.

I’ll have the battery tested today. Any recommendations on a replacement if it does test bad? I used to buy Interstate batteries but they’ve gone to crap. The last three I’ve bought, on three different vehicles, were all replaced under warranty two or three times in under two years.

It's my understanding that all of the vehicle batteries made here in the US, are produced by one of 3 companies.
I have had good luck with Walrmart, Autozone, etc. The warranties have changed, such that most are 3 years total replacement, with a prorating to the 5 year mark. Others, are 3 years and done.
If you haven't bought a battery lately, be prepared for some sticker shock. There are no more sub $100 batteries for the most part. Some places will price match, so ask. You may save a few bucks.

The battery tested okay but on the lower side of good. I looked at the battery itself and it has corrosion on the terminal so I’m going to clean that up and see if it helps. Of course, anything battery related is going to be a PITA when it’s under the front passenger seat...

Did you have both batteries tested? They both have to be in optimum condition. There is also a separate wire that is grounded in that compartment that can be loose or have a bad ground.

Sorry, I was thinking you had a start/stop issue which uses two batteries. But that isn't you so you may disregard. Keep in mind though that the lower side of good may be too low for all of your car's functions to work correctly. If the battery is close to or over 5 years old you should replace it.

Had exactly the same problem a week ago.
Went ahead a few days ago and replaced the battery with an OEM one since it was 3 years old and in my part of the world (Middle East - 6 months of the year under extreme heat weather conditions) they don't last much longer anyway.

Problem solved! Remote Start now works flawlessly every time, even if it sits all night Vs before that it would only work if the car was off for maybe 5-10 minutes. Any more than that and it wouldn't.

Seems that the Remote Start requires more “juice” to start the car for some reason, which was a nice heads up for me to replace the battery proactively.

Be well people!

By itself. I was planning to take the battery out and clean it this weekend but it seems to have resolved itself.
Do it anyway. and put some grease on the terminals when you are done. It will buy you some more time.
You might not even need to take it out. It is not a PITA if you do though. Just get the seat as much forward and up as possible and you'll have plenty of room. Unscrew the clamp and the terminal connectors, tilt it up towards you, and will slide right out.
