My baby is not even 2 months old and this happens (Great way to start my labor day weekend). The metal bumper is definitely bent, my question would be is that part of the frame? I hope not. My other question is do you recommend me taking the vehicle to my dealer for the repairs? what do y'all think? :-(

Well, if you were rear-ended then the other driver's insurance should pay for it. I would definitely take it to the dealer (assuming they do bodywork in-house) or a reputable collision repair shop. I think you'd be amazed at much it will cost to repair.

There should be any frame damage based on this picture but you never know.

Ouchie. I haven't poked under the Durango but I'm willing to bet that the frame itself and some sort of frame horn connection to a replaceable bumper section exists. Looks easily repairable with a new bumper cover as well. You should be up and running in no time.

Do you have a hitch? If so the bumper subframe and bumper pieces should be it Thats about $3K + worth of damage with all new factory parts

It could very well be just a bumper (which is plastic) that got damaged. It does not look like the OP has the OEM hitch installed because the hitch cover appears to be missing the 'bump'. With no hitch installed, there is still a metal crossbar underneath the plastic bumper. No idea how much the bumper itself costs (plus the labor to have it painted to match the body) but like others said, the other party should be held responsible. Good luck.

A few things. First, sorry that happened. Second, be careful when opening the back lift gate to make sure it doesn't hit the bumper when you open it. Third, make sure the exhaust isn't damaged, it would be a darn shame to have a new exhaust replaced by a Corsa exhaust. Cough cough

Highly doubt the frame is bent, but you never know.

But there's really no point in speculating. You need to contact your insurance company. Then drop the car off at your dealer or insurance-authorized repair center. The insurance company will send someone out, hopefully within 24-48hrs, and make the assessment about what kind or repairs are needed. There's no point taking it around getting quotes in the meantime. After the insurance representative makes his decision, then you can move the D to a body shop of your choosing (provided it's approved by the insurance company). If your car needs new backup sensors and hitch stuff, it might be best to go to the dealer because they might be a bit more familiar with the parts. Plus insurance companies might have different agreements with different repair shops as far as guarantees about work done.

^^^ this

I kept my old bumper when I had the hitch installed... Not sure if it would fit on a '15 but I would think its the same?? Too bad you aren't closer... I'd sell it to you for cheap

When our Durango got it I contacted my dealer and asked them who they use, I went there and they a fantastic job!

if you were hit you can go through the other person insurance. It will simply be a longer process that way. If you need your car fixed ASAP go through yours . Make sure they assign 100% at fault to the driver that hit you.
Some insurance company go by at faults vs accidents.

There is a broker on this site maybe he can chime in

Get the police report, notify your insurance and theirs, Don't drive it, demand a rental, rear sensors and that harness may be bad, rear hatch may not clear the bumper cover, all other wiring may need to be checked. Spare tire and its shell, are the exhaust tips closer to body. Check all rear lights to see if they are working.

Its the stuff you dont see that can be real issues

QUICK UPDATE!!

His insurance is taking full responsibility for the repairs and car rental, So that's a relief. On another note, my boss who is in (Space City Mopar Club here in Houston) recommended a friend who the club often uses, I was told he does amazing paint work too so that's a plus (I might just ask him to add the black wrap on the roof :D). I'm scheduled to drop off the "D" this afternoon, it'll be about 3 weeks before I get my baby back. Thank you guys for the great advice! Y'all are awesome!

Thank you for the tip , I will definitely have him check all the wiring, spare tire and its shell.
