Came home after a road trip over a few days and around 500 miles. Noticed a louder idle so opened the hood and this is the sound. Any ideas? 59000 miles.

x 2 on the water pump. You are headed down the road for a new one. Your 5/60 powertrain warranty will cover it. There is also a warranty extension for '13-17 Durangos/Jeeps with the 5.7 and 6.4, but '18 appears to not be under that.

Get thee to the dealer!

Thanks both. Called dealer but they don’t have time to even see me for diagnostics for two weeks. I mean wtf?? I can’t leave it for two weeks. It’s my only vehicle.

That's crazy! Sadly, many businesses are way behind still when it comes to getting customers serviced. As long as you are driving it locally, I think you'll be fine. Just keep an eye/ear out for signs of leaking coolant. The bearing is going, but as long as the seal holds, you can drive it. Are there any other dealers not too far away you could try?

hey Don. I called up the place that sold it to me which is a little further away and they can see me tomorrow am so I’ll do that. I do have errands to run today which sucks but must be done so I have to drive it a bit more. There is no leak that I see and nothing on the ground when parked. Coolant level is good still. I drove the car 250 miles from MD to NJ yesterday and it was all good until I noticed this noise. Hoping it will last another 30-40 miles between today and tomorrow until I can drop it off.

I think that is a good plan. If you have an issue, your PT warranty should cover a tow if needed.
Good luck, and let us know how things go.

Thanks Rob. I’m at the dealer in Paramus NJ as we speak. I will advise how it went. It’s being diagnosed now.

Dealer says water pump is bad. Now they want to service BOTH differentials 5000 miles after they sold
Me the car as CPO? And say that if I don’t service them, the warranty wouldn’t cover me? Is differentials parts of powertrain warranty?

So frigging upset. Upselling of the worst kind. The car was a CPO 5000 miles ago and went through the 125 point inspection then. Now they want me to pay $329 x 2 to service the diffs? Absolutely ridiculous!!

Getting the water pump done and never come back here. Disgusted right now.

Good thing I have a Hemi expert on speed dial and it was quickly clear this is BS and also way too expensive. I’m disappointed to say the least. Just want my car back and get out of here.

Is this the norm, I wonder? The little old lady next to me at the service desk, is she just going along with the BS they’re telling her? Probably. It’s sad.

@DodgeCares I sent a pm. Pls call me

Back home. What a pain in the neck. This is another reason to hate dealers. I wish I could have my local guy do it but due to the warranty of course the dealer has to. The buying experience here was also painful. Never going back there. Will just have to schedule the next service months in advance with the place closer to my house.

So after I refused the coolant flush and transmission flush (again, 5000 miles after being sold as CPO) we agreed to a small service. Oil change, filter changes, cabin filter etc.

Then they tried to upsell me on the diff services at $329 each (5000 miles after CPO)….

ok work was done and here is the receipt. So they didn’t do the filters, but decided to go for the emissions check up for $200 and cleaning the fuel system for $90. Nobody asked for that…

and as we can see, the air filter is trash.

Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Paramus will never see me again. @DodgeCares is there a way to have FCA/Stellantis see reports of poor service experiences? Yelp rates them a 2 stars which sounds about right.

What a shit show that dealership is! I would be on the phone with Stellantis demanding assistance and getting your money back. Stellantis has total control over the dealership and if they want, things can be made to happen very easily.
