There's got to be quite a few on lots.
Should not be much trouble to locate one with your desired options I would think.
But understand those who would rather get one built their way.
Very few R/Ts in my area, and most have the captains chairs in the rear which are a no-go for me.

Also, they love to add the rear entertainment system to those dealer builds. I'm not paying two grand for that when my kids already have iPads. Nor do I want to lose center console storage space for an old-timey disc player.

According to published order bank info from leasing company websites, MY15 Durango order banks closed May 29th. My friend at a local dealership confirmed this as well. Painted and Polished wheels also went restricted about two months ago - hence why we are seeing a flood of blacktop configurations. For those who want to order one - bad news is that the MY16 Durango order banks don't open till October 26th with first production starting November 30th. Must be a production line equipment change out - or maybe new paint robots or something.

Hi,

New to the forum (first post) and looking to purchase an new Durango RT or Citadel. We have a specific configuration we want and are willing to wait to find it (V8, towing, technology, center storage console, no dvd screens)

We just started the search this weekend and our initial feedback suggests that we may have to special order if we want our exact configuration.

We started the process through TrueCar/USAA and really like the price quotes we got, but nobody has exactly what we want. I sent an email to all the dealers that responded asking about ordering. My local dealer said in an email that 2015 model orders end the first week of July and that 2016 orders will start mid August. This information is from an email I just received so it may not be correct (I'm always surprised by how little some folks at car dealers know about the products they sell...) The dealer is close and I hope to head over tonight to get verification. I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Thanks to everyone on this forum for the good information here. We are pretty much set on the Durango and looking forward to being a part of the community.

Dave

So 5 months with no Durango ordering capacity??? That seems suicidal for the model. Time to resurrect the "Durango is EOL" rumors? :(

The leasing websites show the same 5/29 date for Jeep Grand Cherokees. I don't *think* those are going away anytime soon.

Still not sure if/when 2015 orders close, but another issue is monthly allocation. I believe once they hit those, orders don't open again until early in the next month.

DD and JGC are built on the same line - hence the parallel order bank dates. Must be a major line retool. Dodge is making too much money on the DD - not EOL.

Really about 3 months. MY15 production would probably go through late July / early August. MY16 production starts November, so down for Sept, Oct and some of November. 10-12 weeks to retool / replace major portion of the line makes sense. As far as the business decision - don't think they have a choice - as I recall an insider on this or another forum saying portions of the line are old.

Ordered an RT this evening with exactly what we want at the local dealer. They told me it would take about six weeks but have seen them come in sooner. They told me to do another search through USAA/TrueCar when it arrives and they can will give the discounts as if I "found" it through the service. So far I'm pleased with the experience...

Dave, which dealer did you go with? I am in the market this weekend to order.

My local dealer checked with his regional rep and he is still able to order D's. If you are willing to come to Long Island, I'll give you his contact info. He will give you 1% off invoice before rebates.

I told you guys any dealer can still order. If they say they cant that just means they don't WANT to. We actually didn't get our order in til this past Monday evening. We almost went with one on the lot but we really wanted the radar red interior. The manager called his rep while we were sitting there because it does say restricted when they build it, but his rep said go ahead no problem. They even put it in as a SOLD rush order so just MAYBE we might get it a little quicker. If a dealer is telling you they cant order one then find another dealer.

By the way for anyone interested we got 2.5% below invoice plus available incentives locked in with the ability to go up if better incentives are available at time of delivery.

My dealer who said '15 orders were closed did more research at my insistence and **surprise!** he can still order one. So sorry guys, much ado about nothing due to a single dealer who had his facts wrong.

Now I'm kinda hung up on CarPlay integration, so I may be waiting until 2016 unless Dodge announces backwards compatibility. Or heck, if it will even make it by 2016.

Its not gonna make it by 2016. They really haven't even talked anything much about it. Just buy one. If you keep waiting for the next add on you're never going to get anything. Every new MY is going to have SOMETHING that the previous year didn't

How do we know?

Not publicly.

I'm not too worried about the next add on aside from the ability to tie my mobile device to my vehicle system, which will give me at least a little buffer against obsolescence. Oh, and the Beats audio upgrade which was promised for the 2015 models but has yet to appear halfway through the model year.

unfortunately, none of this is what sells a vehicle to 99% (BTW all statistics are made up :) ) of car buyers. The sales cycle is "walks in, falls in love, signs the papers, gone"

Google and Apple have been pushing their proprietary angle, either of which leaves out half of the market (and, also, leaves out the auto makers).

One would hope that the various RTOS* vendors are pushing an agnostic interface to get the auto makers out of this mess, but the RTOS vendors have their own vested interests.

Gonna take some years before this settles out.

...tom

*RTOS: Real Time Operating System. The stuff that glues all the computing widgets in the vehicle together.
