Headed to the engine builders shop in the morning to finalize it and pay him.

After talking to him as well as a few others, I decided against the 408 Stroker. I wanted it just cause it's cool.

For what I use the D for, he worked up this build.

New 360 in about three weeks.

Block bored, honed, decked and aligned honed.

New cam bearings

Performance camshaft 220/240 @ 0.50, 490 lift, 112 lobe center.

Matching roller lifters

Resized rods with ARP rod bolts

Reground 3.578" stroke

Crankshaft micro polished less than a 12 RA finish

OEM pistons with Molly rings

Match weight balanced rotating assembly

New timing set

New high volume oil pump

New Felpro gasket set

New pushrods and stamped rockers

New head bolts

Cast iron heads with 2.00/1.60 valves

Matching springs

3 angle seats

New guides

Positive seals

Dial in cam

Painted black

Stage 2 porting - porting it all from intake to exhaust.

Kegger intake included

$3495.00 out the door with a $400.00 core charge.

I'll run my Mike Leach headers on it. Exhaust will be the stainless 3" cat back I have with a Magnaflow muffler.

Just picked up a Fastman 52mm throttle body for $200 with shipping.

I'll drive my buddy's Xterra while I tear down the D and prepare it for the new engine.

Gotta get my headers re-ceramic coated. Take my tranny to a friend so he can give it the once over.

Going to be great to get fresh horses under the hood.

You may need a tune to tap the full potential. If so contact Sean at Hemifever tuning for either an SCT or Diablo Tuner. He can give you Tow tunes as well as everyday driving tunes

Make sure the SCT is not married to that guys Vin # and offer him $150
Pay Sean at Hemifever to write and send you a couple tunes, Load them in that tuner and get a dyno run done. After the DYno send him results from dyno he will make fine tune adjustments and you will have a Monster D

Found a guy on eBay selling SCT Chrysler Dodge Hemi PCM Flash Tuners 9550 for $129.95 plus $9.95 shipping. Sold 5 and he has 9 left. They are brand new in box and his description says this: "Bran new. Still in the original box.

The units are unused. They are new. I got them from a dealer that closed up."

I'm headed to the builders now to pay him and get this going.

Good deal
But keep in mind you will need custom tunes most likely not the canned ones in the SCT
So you will still need a tuner person

Emailed Sean at Hemifever.

$250 for my stage 1 tuning which will get the current config dialed in. You'll need to be able to provide whatever data log info is needed and airfuel information.

The guy on eBay raised his price to $149 each now for the 9550 tuners.

So I'm looking at $350 to get tuned.

What are everyones thoughts on a distributor?

Keep the stock? Upgrade?

Any recommendations?

Plus I found the OEM parts I need to do the V-10 fan and clutch conversion. Will knock Dow the noise and cool better from I've researched.

I also sent a message to the guys who sell the FFD fan kits for the D. I asked if they pull enough air to cool it while towing.

They claim they have over 3500cfm, so I'm curious as to their reply. Really can't find any reviews on them.

I'll most likely stick with the new V-10 setup as it is proven.

It gets up over 110 with high humidity here in SC during the summer, but I've never had my engine temp get above 195 with the taurus fan installed, not even when sitting in stop and go traffic with the a/c on.

The flex fan cool a bunch, but it is always noisy and always drawing power from the engine. Not as much as a solid fan, as it is many pounds lighter, but the draw is always on and much noisier than the standard setup.

No Flex fans way too old school
ALSO make sure to get a real nice Radiator
WIZARD COOLING MADE THE BEST RADIATOR FOR THE D Years ago
Very Pricey but it has about a 3" core and it was all Aluminum and had a fan set up that had 4 fans on it that came on sequentially as needed

I am trying to remember if you had done a body lift with the tough country lift. If you did the fan on the engine is too low to function correctly with the radiator. You should then consider going to an electric set up for best cooling. If not, the v-10 kit should work just fine. I would overheat at idle after a long stop with my stock fan set up. It was so bad that the a/c shut down one day 4 wheeling. Put the v-10 kit in and haven't gotten hot since. Also got rid of the annoying fan roar at start up when cold.

Not me, when I started towing with my e-fan setup , it started overheating on the highway.

I had the Bosch e-fan that is supposed to be a step up from yours.

I've ordered the V-10 kit today, so that should work.

It's been so long I don't remember which body lift I have. I do know I didn't have to lower the radiator though.

DodgeParts.com

Fan is part number 52027709 $34.05

Drive is part number 52029767aa $119.34

Shipping $16.87

Total $170.26

Dropped the motor off yesterday for the core. Rick called me today and said the harmonic balancer was cracked and would eventually come apart. So they are giving me a new one for free.

Also the heads are cracked, so he said since they are not good for a core, we would worry about that later.

Gotta drop the 52mm Fastman off Saturday so they can port the intake to match it. He wants to make sure everything is ported and polished to match.

Are you guys swapping out the fan shroud like the tsb says. They have a new part number for it but I wonder if there is a difference.
can you post the eBay info, I haved searched but there is only one I find and they want like $350 for the programmer. I have a reburned computer but he set it up for 93 octane but in SoCal we can only get 91. He said to slot my cam sensor but no shop around here will even touch that idea
