I have the K&N 57 Series FIPK Cold Air Intake installed on my D. Does anyone here use (or know if they're even worth the money) the Filter Wraps they sell? From the information on their website, they seem like they'd save me some trouble in my off-road "encounters". They come in a few different colors too. Here's the info on them for those that don't know about them, Black, Blue, Red, and Yellow.

K&N

These are for looks only. If it makes you smile, get one. :D

Some of the desert racers use them. They're not really needed for the type of use most of us put them through. If it's mud running you're worried about, build a sealed intake with a snorkle. That's the only real way to go. Other than that, remember that the K&N is designed to filter better as it gets dirtier. Just take it out every so often and run it through the wife's dishwasher when she's not around and re-oil and install.

Wash that up.

I go on the boat for a day, and you guys run all amock with my topic!

Getting back to the first of the offshoots of this topic?

I put a old dishwasher in my garage for just these occasions. It makes a great parts washer, my g/f didn't appreciate me using the big whirlpool bathtub to wash engines .
