Can you install a 2014 Jeep 8.4 display in a 2014 Durango or is the wiring different? Just curious because the Jeep ones seem cheaper.

Should be no problem...I've installed Jeep units in prior Chrysler and dodge vehicles with no issue, plug and play.

IIRC in the older unit the splash was determined by the cars computer not sure why that would change... not 100% on that

I would think it would be plug and play....

I bricked the head unit in my 2011 D and bought a used unit from a reputable dealer online... during the first start up, the Chrysler splash screen popped up.. .every other start since then has been Dodge (therefore the head unit recognized the vehicle.. dealer told me this as well)

Yes, the head will recognize which car its installed in and adjust the splash screen on start-up.

Yes, 99.9% odds they are the same.

look at the mounting holes, one's up top and other's on the side.

some MINOR fabrication with thin aluminum stock and a rivet gun could EASILY remount the holes to correct location... if it saved me money, I would do it

if the plugs in the back are exactly the same, then I would somehow mickey mouse it to secure in place. maybe with some zip ties
