From my initial runs today, I dare say that it's running nearly 30 degrees cooler with the new pan. Normally, the oil and tranny temps were fairly close but now, and with no heavy traffic, oil was reading about 180 whilst tranny was at 150. But given that the new pan also holds 2 more quarts some of that may be due to that increase. In any case, so far it seems like the effort was worth it!

Alright, after a morning in traffic I can definitely say that I'm running 30 degrees cooler. My oil is at 210, water is at 210 or just a hair short of the first notch and the tranny is running at 180 on the dot. Man this is OUSTANDING!
If pulling the oil pan wouldn't be such a PITA I'd junk that as well. Whatever brand you get, it's definitely worth it IMHO.
