Is there a difference in height between the SLT and the SLT plus?

When I read this question, it reminded me of a thread I thought I read about a slight height difference on the 98-03 Durango's. For example, there are some that seem just slightly lower like the SXT model. I just got some BFG's this summer on my R/T which has the 17x9 wheels, I wanted a different tire as I concur, they do get "cut up" a bit when going off road I found from a previous set I had. But for the 17x9 size, it seems hard to find a really good tire out there besides BFG's. I couldn't even order a Michelin tire due to the hard to find size.

OP: 'badass' can go in a lot of different directions, and lugged tires in AZ is pretty lame to me unless you do off-road, which I doubt you do. If you insist in 'badass, do your 'basass' with some wheels if you want and stick with tires that will get the job done with minimal loss in mileage, are quieter, and will last longer on-road. Don't do the stupid 22's or something, just wheels nicer than boring stock SLT wheels.

I'm a newbie to the site and my new 2001 4.7 D. My first purchase is four new tires. It has 255/65 16 on there now, but I want to go up to 265/70 mainly because of the aggressive look. I live in south florida and there is hardly any driving off road. I drive roughly 30 miles a day on the highway. Will I be sacrificing ride comfortability for an aggressive look by switching tires? Any other upside/downside to switching tires?

Thx

How comfortable the ride is will have more to do with the selection of tires than the increased size, regular highway tires or all-seasons will be quietest, A/T tires will be a bit louder, mud tires very loud. The bigger thing to look into is gearing - I'm guessing you have 3.55 gears though not sure without more details from you. A larger tire will lower the rpm from current levels at any speed, and the transmission shift points will be "fooled" a bit. The result is less towing capability, less acceleration, and maybe funky feeling shift points.

I put larger tires on my '03 R/T with the 5.9, and didn't have any re-programming done. For me the lower rpm were a welcome change, I didn't mind the shift points, and it still towed fine but the 5.9 makes more torque and at lower rpm and I had the 3.92 gears.
