That's why you save and put money down. I'm a stay at home mom with 3 kids, so it is doable. But we also have made smart decision financially. That's what it comes down to.
We also didn't pay 50k for ours. Our monthly payment is only 369.

simple. I drove my 2002 sequoia for 13 years. Paid it off in 3 years then saved my money for the next 9 years to pay for the next one. Was going to pay cash but credit union gave me a 36 month loan for 0.74% interest. Bottom line is drive what you have until you save enough to buy what ever you want. A 20K car or 90K car doesn't matter if you can afford it. But don't go into debt you can't afford. AKA 4 kids

The bottom line at 50k, you have to ask yourself is the value there. My 2015 Durango limited V6 cost 40k flat including taxes. In the 40k segment I did very well. But in the 50k segment other options like the Tahoe , Suburban, Armada and Sequoia look much better and will hold value longer. In short I don't think any Durango even one loaded with options is worth more than 45k topped out. But if you plan on keeping it a while and really are head over heals for it then buy one. If you are pulling in over 100k a year you can easily afford a $900 payment, and if you can't you need a finical adviser I make way less than that an am managing just fine.

Look for what suits you, go price it out and get their offer for a trade in, give them your email address and tell them your going to think about it. Walk Away, Do not buy the same day! Wait for them to contact you. Send them a offer 6-8k lower with your trade etc.

Wait, what!? did you say 53k for an Loaded 15 R/T? I know mine inst fully loaded and a 2016 but it was easily 10k less. hell thats SRT money!

I bought my '14 Limited RWD V6 used with pretty much every option available except the rear seat video system, radar cruise control, and the second row console between the captain's chairs for $30K + TTL.

Bottom line there are plenty of great priced used Gen 3 Durangos available on the market if you look close enough. Given that you can add on an unlimited mileage MOPAR factory warranty for ~$2200, there's no real reason not to consider used.

Things that involve controlled explosions are my 1 vice. (well, sort of 1 vice...I mean, firearms, motorcycles, cars, trucks, fireworks, go-karts, etc all involve controlled explosions...so....)

I'm not in the 6 figure bracket (yet) but I'm fairly comfortable. I contribute regularly to a Roth IRA, I don't spend a lot of money on booze and partying and going out all the time, single, no kids, maybe like $1500 left of credit card debt, 700+ credit score give or take. Used to be up in the high 700s just below 800 but took a hit thanks to some bullshit with a hospital bill my company was supposed to pay but took so long to do they sent collectors after me. It all got cleared up but hasn't cleared off my credit report yet.

So...yeah. I'm solidly in the low end of middle class I think. Hopefully within the next 5 years I'll add a mortgage payment to the list of debts...right around the time I pay off the Durango I'm getting ready to purchase :).

What does this unlimited mileage warranty cover....?

^^^^ This

I was looking for a new R/T. The $47 - 52K price tag just didn't sit well with me (not that the value wasn't there).

I found a really nice 2015 R/T with the towing and tech packages for 38K. Saved $13K over a comparably equipped new model. Yes, I don't ave the "sport" mode, but having never had it, I don't miss it :)

I wanted the Durango as a tow vehicle for my new travel trailer, since the Durango has the highest towing capacity of any vehicle in its class. I bought a new 2016 Limited which had a sticker price of about $45,000. I traded in a small boring Subaru Impreza, plus put a few thousand down, and financed just $22,000 for 60 months at 1.9%. Still expensive but not intolerable even in my retired status. So far I am really pleased with everything about the Durango and have put about 3,000 miles on it during the first three weeks of ownership.

I'm trading in a 2016 WRX Limited :) I'm looking at about $32k trade in and TrueCar's pricing the 2016 Durango RT with tow and blacktop and sunroof at $42k. After incentives and rebates I'm looking at $38k.
