I did not order the brake option on my DDSRT, which I am still waiting for, either. I don't see how it is better. I did read something about the heated part of the rotor being able to expand because it is a separate part from the center section. With all those bolts holding the pieces together, I not really buying it and I don't understand how the heat transfer from outer to center can be better than being all one piece. And that aluminum center section can't be as strong as an all one piece steel unit. Of course I don't plan on "tracking" the vehicle, so I will probably never exploit those brakes to the max anyway.

Well I had my DRT for a few years now and as much as I absolutely adore the car, my one gripe was the brakes. They are by no means bad, they are just not that good considering I am driving a house... I heard that SRT would get improved breaks (heavier front etc) but figured: hey why not, if it’s an option to get even better brakes. The dealer ended up throwing the brakes in since I have to wait now a month for the car. And 2-piece rotors aren’t a bad thing at all.. I had sport bikes for years and my front brake rotors have always been 2-piece floating rotors. I was just not sure how good the standard brakes were ... hell, I’m already getting them and not really paying for them so wth...

Was just messing around with my previous comment. Don't take offense to it. Us lowly 2nd gen Durango owners don't get Deluxe brakes!

what Friction said^^^

Yes, the rotors may be a cost issue down the road, but I will ALWAYS take the best brakes I can get on a high performance vehicle, especially relatively heavy ones like these modern Mopars. Why do you think these are standard equipment on Hellcat and Demon?

I guess a lot of this depends upon your intended use. Certainly if I was going to track the car, a brake upgrade would be sensible. But the only time my SRT might ever see a track is if I use it to tow the Z06 to Summit Point or VIR.

The advantages of lower unsprung weight and better heat dissipation will not be realized in street use.

Even if I wanted to track the car, I don't think Summit Point allows suv's on track, anyway.

As for towing, the standard SRT brakes are superior to anything that any more traditional tow vehicles would come with...
