99% OEM hids are 4300k and 35w. Going to 55w wouldn't be the best idea, it usually winds up damaging things anyway, not to mention you're going from high quality oem grade ballasts to cheap aftermarket ones then.

 

I wouldn't ever put in cheap ballasts, I usually buy my parts from retrofitsource.com, as their parts are high quality. Saying the OEM parts are high quality is all perspective to whatever you are making the comparison with.

I'm just quite disappointed with the lighting performance from the stock HIDs. I think I'll start with the bulb upgrad and go from there.

 

nope I ended up just purchasing the 9012 bulbs. when I modified the 9006 I noticed a lot of humidity in the lenses. once I actually put the 9012 HID bulbs the humidity went away.

 

So you used the DDM Tuning Canbus Ballasts but used 9012 bulbs from a different company? I don't see where DDM Tuning offers 9012s. Where did you get the 9012 bulbs from?

 

I used a 15+ ram spec kit from TRS with DD 6k 9012 bulbs with no issues. Everything works flawlessly

 

So ive been having the flicker problem. I got my HIDs from the retrofit source with the canbus system. First couple of days they worked fine and now its a guessing game at when they will go out. Some times they stay on for my whole drive home and others they are out within 5 minutes. Anybody else have a fix for this? Is the ddm canbus ballast my only route? I have a 2015 limited.

 

I have the DDM canbus ballasts and....no go
I'm going to try to reverse the ballast power in case of reverse polarity but this is my second attempt (hidkitlights.com or something...) and DDM...the first kit flickered then shut off...I'm getting absolutely nothing from the DDM ballasts so far...I was going to try retrofit source next but...

 

Ive been in contact with the retrofit source and they are telling me to use the HD relay harness. They have a mopar kit which is what i think i should have got. Ill have more news once i get the relay harness and install it.

 

So it was the polarity...so far, so good. I have the DDM Plus CanBus 35w ballasts and I got my bulbs from retrofit source. I'm coming from stock halogens and the difference is incredible. I'll dig into the fogs this weekend hopefully.

I bought the 15+ MOPAR spec hid elite kit. Comes with bulbs, ballasts, capacitor link, resistors, and wiring harness. Kit is expensive but well worth it. No issues at all.

 

Are the canbus ballasts necessary for the fog lights as well or can the fogs just be regular ballasts?

 

Yes they are , my buddy had a extra set of regular ballast and we tried to see if they would work.
Nope the bulbs didn't fire up. Ddm kit works for me on my fogs

I hear you. It honestly wasn't an difficult thing to do. The hardest part was opening the damn housings. I just ended up cutting them open with a dremel and cutting disk then resealed them with 100% silicone. The auto level goes to the bracket you mount the projector to so I don't think it will be much of an issue. Try searching and asking questions on hidplanet.com. It's full of people with tons of knowledge about this. I did have to cut the high beam solenoid wires of the stock one and solder the ones of the new projector to them, inside of the housing.

 

Installed hid with canbus built in to the ballast on my 2015 Durango and it worked for a short while then passenger side went out, turned lights off and back on...work for a short while then pass side went out again. Installed a relay harness and they now stay on but has a mild flicker.. looks like they have a mild surge. Question: I ran the power wire of the harness to the power block under the hood on the passenger side (plastic red cap) and used the nearby grounding post because the fraking battery is under the pass seat. Do i need to connect directly to the battery instead of the "jump start post"? would that cure the mild flickering? About to run a harness to the now hid foglights also because..surprise..they go off as well. I'm tired of fighting these lights but the hid's are soooo much better than the horrible factory bulbs. . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

You need a capacitor link like the ones morimoto has, stopped mine from flickering.

 

Kelvin will work fine with no error and no flickers thats what i have on my RT 15

I would appear that to win the lighting battle on a 2015 you have to use canbus ballasts, a relay harness and a capacitor/anti flicker setup. So far so good and tons better than factory.

 

I have just the Ddm can bus on my fogs, nothing else added and hey work fine.
