Battery

The difference between the red top and yellow top is fairly simple. The red top battery is designec to function as a normal battery does. The yellow top is a deep cycle battery. The difference being (and this is the same with conventional batteries also) that the yellow top cell structure is designed to handle greater/deeper cycles of charge-discharge without warping the cell plates than the standard battery, and to do this a greater number of times than the standard battery can. The only real difference in size is height. The red and yellow top, also the blue top marine battery, are just shorte in height than a standard battery. Your OEM battery hold down will work with these batteries without any modification. You'll loose the heat shield, but it isn't a problem. I have a yellow top in my D because of the winch and running lights. Well worth the investment.
