For the 2011 Durango;

V6 comes with the MP2010 single speed AWD transfer case and uses Shell ATF 3353 / ATF 134 or equivalent fluid (MBZ 236.14 or some Dexron-VI)

V8 comes with the MP3023 2-speed 4WD transfer case and uses ATF+4 or equivalent fluid

Yeah my 2011 manual says it uses the atf+4 for the single speed case, but everybody says shell 134 so I'm going to use that. I think the really early durangos must say the atf+4

Why are you posting to so many old threads?

What I don't understand about transfer cases is that ATF-4 doesn't need to be at a specific temp.

With the ZF trans ATF-4 needs to be at a specific temp to be filled.

The assumption is that ATF volume expands and contracts based on the temp. Either the transfer case is less sensitive to the amount of ATF added or the ZF trans is way more sensitive.

I'm not refilling my transfer case in a snowstorm so I don't think it really matters. But I could see a situation where you could add additional ATF to the transfer case if it was cold or not enough if it was hot. Since the Durango transfer case is sealed you might have too much or not enough.

TRANSFER CASE
Recommended lubricant for the MP3023 transfer case is Mopar® ATF+4, Automatic Transmission Fluid. For the MP2010 transfer case, Use ATF approved to MB 236.10, MB 236.12, such as Shell ATF 3403/M-115, MOPAR® part number 05127382AA, Fuchs/Shell ATF 3353, or equivalent.

The MP3023 is the 2 speed transfer case. MP2010 is the single speed.

I have the fluid change/fill instructions to post once you tell me which transfer case you have.
How about for a 2017 Durango gt awd?
