Changing the fluid on the transfer case a DYI project? Does it have a drain plug or ???? Any good tech papers? I have a thump when accelerating that is felt not heard and from reading a fluid change might help this.
For the 2011 Durango;
V6 comes with the MP2010 single speed AWD transfer case and uses Shell ATF 3353 / ATF 134 or equivalent fluid (MBZ 236.14 or some Dexron-VI)
V8 comes with the MP3023 2-speed 4WD transfer case and uses ATF+4 or equivalent fluid
Hi I have a 2108 SRT Durango that has the clunk at takeoff and want to change fluid in transfer case and tranny. Could you please share PDF if you have one and what are correct fluids. Thank you.Ask and you shall receive! (If I have it). Your fluid is outlined in post #6 above. It's not ATF+4. There's a Mopar part number also.
I have a 2015 Durango. How do I check the level of transfer case fluid?Look at post #6. Recommended lubricant for the MP3023 transfer case is Mopar® ATF+4, Automatic Transmission Fluid. That's straight from my Tech Authority 2013 FSM. The single speed uses the Mopar fluid.
How about for a 2017 Durango gt awd?TRANSFER CASE
Recommended lubricant for the MP3023 transfer case is Mopar® ATF+4, Automatic Transmission Fluid. For the MP2010 transfer case, Use ATF approved to MB 236.10, MB 236.12, such as Shell ATF 3403/M-115, MOPAR® part number 05127382AA, Fuchs/Shell ATF 3353, or equivalent.
The MP3023 is the 2 speed transfer case. MP2010 is the single speed.
I have the fluid change/fill instructions to post once you tell me which transfer case you have.
The higher plug is the refill, lower is drain.Thanks DuRon, but how can the drain plug#1 be higher than the fill plug #2?
