EDIT Dec 1, 2023: If you're reading this thread for the 1st time ... you can skip to post 91 for the solution to unlocking the SRT Dashboard and making Drive Modes work. Still working on Launch Control.

Drive Modes on a 2023 Tow & Go! :D

EDIT Mar 17, 2024: See post 177 for details on how to keep the dashboard from disappearing after some time

And see post 178 for details on getting the Tow & Go panel buttons to work along side the SRT drive mode functionality.

__

Considering the Tow-n-Go is essentially an SRT with a 5.7L engine instead of a 6.4L or SC 6.2L engine, I wonder if it would be possible to enable Launch Control. I realize the "Launch" surface button isn't present, but if it can be enabled in the PCM/BCM/ABS systems, I would expect the "Perf Control" (or something similar) to appear in the uConnect menus for accessing it.

I already have AlfaOBD and a communications cable, and I had a Tazer on my 2016 R/T, but it appears Tazer doesn't yet support uConnect 5 even with the security bypass module.

I don't yet have my 2023 TnG, as I ordered it last month and am still waiting, but am curious if this would even be possible once we take delivery of it.

So 1st question is: Has anyone used AlfaOBD on a 2023 model with the uConnect 5 system yet? Will it connect and allow changes or does it require an unlocked PCM (which hasn't yet been made available)?

@Duh-rango : I saw your post over at Challenger Talk, where you were able to get the performance pages and launch control working on your R/T manual transmission Challenger, great work and great info!

But it appears you had to use the Tazer for some of this process. While zAutomotive doesn't yet support the uConnect 5 system, I wonder if enabling of the drive modes might not be needed on a Tow-n-Go due to the nature of the TnG having many of the SRT features already. I also wonder if the Tow-n-Go already has the "SRT" flag set to "Yes" since it has the adaptive suspension along with Track mode already or if it's more like the Scat package where there would be a new value other than SRT (Maybe TNG or something?).

Of course, all of this would be a moot point if AlfaOBD requires an unlocked PCM ...

Gotcha. Sorry, I don’t have any experience with the Android version.

I would think the android version would still allow you to manually select the BCM version though. Maybe it’s called something else in the Android app than it is in the windows app?

Maybe someone local to you with Alfa on PC can help? Where are you located?

Or.. might be worth the license for a laptop if you have one

Post a log instead of a backup.

You need to enable srt, enable drive modes, and disable connected services.

maybe try a factory reset of the uConnect and see if that doesn’t force it.

I test drove a Hellcat with this firmware and it was the same screen we have in the ram firmware. It looks like they changed it going forward. The tab doesn’t say SRT anymore, but just dashboard as well. I think I took pics even, I’ll try to find them.

Your log file looks right, although i don’t see connected services in the list

did you generate that log after doing the BCM selection trick to show it?

Definitely do a factory reset in the uConnect settings. You’ll have to reprogram all your profile settings though.

It may take a few sleep cycles for them to show even after the reset. Do factory reset, then a couple of power cycles, then let it sit for an hour or so.

Awesome, glad it worked!

They’ll stay so long as Connected Services is turned off in the BCM 👍

It has nothing to do with the mod. Snow mode turns on the headlights by design, kind of like windshield wipers also turn on the headlights. As for Custom mode, maybe it is as F8 describes in that the 50/50 AWD setting of Snow mode is what is triggering the head lights. So if your custom mode has the AWD set to 50/50, I could see it also turning the headlights on.

But in any case, the Teensy code does not do anything with the head lights.

Hey all, been trying to get this working for a bit now and need some help.
I can get drives modes up. They disappear, just like everyone else’s.
I disabled everything under ECUConfig 18
None of it was worded as “connected services”
Something is still communicating and kicking the features off after a few mins.
Any ideas?

What year, make, and model are you working with? Post a log file of your BCM and I'll see if I can spot any issues.

Only the "Connected Services" option should be disabled under ECUConfig 18. Leave everything else as default.

If you don't see Connected Services, then maybe you're picking a vehicle in the Advanced screen which doesn't have connected services? Try choosing "DT 1500 MY 2023+" and see if you can get it to appear then.

  1. Disable “Connected Services” in the BCM by using AlfaOBD
    • Located in Active Diagnostics, Car Configuration Change, “ECUConfig 18 Connected Services”
    • Note the ECUConfig 18 Connected Services option may not appear in the AlfaOBD listing. To force ECUConfig 18 options to appear, do the following:
      1. Connect to the body computer like normal and then Switch to “Advanced” connection mode
      2. On the advanced screen, click the drop down box to list all BCMs, and choose something like DT 1500 MY 2023+, or DJ 2500 MY2023+
      3. Do not hit connect again, but just go straight to car configuration change. ECUConfig 18 settings will now be available to change
      4. Reading the system ID while it’s in this state will also populate ECUConfig 18 information in the read log

I recently re-enabled connected services on mine, to see if I could get the latest uConnect firmware to download over the air. After a couple of weeks of waiting (it never did download), I went back in and disabled Connected Services again ... but it would not "stick". You can tell it's still enabled because you get the little Alexa icon in the top bar.

I ended up having to do a factory reset by going into the Vehicle Settings, down to System, and doing a system reset ... restore factory settings.

Before doing this though, take a picture of all the profile screens and media presets, so you can easily set them back up.
