It seems this feature just been added as per this TSB http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_2100315.pdf
Unless its general maintenance like an oil change, my local dealer won't book you for a Saturday, even if its just a software update. I think its more of a CYA on their part, just in case something else comes up or goes wrong. That way they don't have to provide you with a loaner and fit you in on Monday and potentially bump other customers.Mine's going in Saturday for this TSB as well as the steering column recall and a couple other things. The dealer is however pushing back on doing this TSB telling me they have to drive the vehicle which will require a M-F appointment to confirm transmission concerns, which I don't have any of. I keep telling them I want it done for the ECO mode not retaining its settings which doesn't require a test drive and they finally agreed to see it Saturday so we'll see if they push back again about doing it. Anyone else have their dealer push back? I feel like they are because I didn't buy my D locally. Hey, not my fault this dealer was not willing to "play ball", I did try to purchase from them.
This is my current understanding (anyone please feel free to correct):They had no problem doing the recall and a couple other things they were showing needed to be "updated" on Saturday but when it came to the TSB, they started pushing back on doing it all together.
Yeah, exactly. Dealer is being a tard. Silliness!! Its a computer flash for crying out loud. This is my current understanding (anyone please feel free to correct):
A recall they are required to do. They’ll do every vehicle they can touch and get paid by FCA.
A TSB is more like a known issue that doesn’t REQUIRE action. If you are in warranty the dealer will get paid by FCA to fix the issue- IF- BIG IF- you specifically have one of the ‘symptoms’ that is listed in the recall. If you don’t have the symptom I guess FCA can refuse to pay them (at least on paper).
A rapid response item (confuses me a little but I think…) is sort of in between. It’s not a recall but they will get paid to do it without a complaint.
So if you don’t officially complain about the specific symptoms in a TSB they probably technically can’t get reimbursed by FCA for it. So pick your words carefully. For example to get the TSB done in the original post here you apparently have to say “my vehicle has ‘Less than desired engagement quality in 4x4 high or 4x4 low range.’”
Of course FCA isn’t standing over your shoulder when you discuss the problem with the service people so they can easily write the magic words on the ticket to help everyone out. Sounds like your dealer isn’t getting the hint.
I could see the software being tied to VIN numbers. If they change something mid year, they don't really want to load the incorrect software onto the wrong vehicle (if its even possible) or that may open up a whole host of new problems.I took mine in on Saturday for this TSB and some other updates and according to the invoice they didn't do this TSB, instead they did 18-063-14, which in looking it up has nothing to do with the ECO mode. I feel like it is shifting better in ECO mode than before, but that might just be wishful thinking. I called the dealer back about this and they said they plugged into the D and applied every update to it available and said the TSB may not apply to it and they can't force it to take it. They said it is completely up to date and there is nothing they can do. If a specific TSB is applied to a vehicle, wouldn't it show on my invoice, how else would they get paid for it? I feel like they are screwing with me for no reason and I'm not happy about it. Is this even worth my time to pursue or should I forget it and just give them a bad review if I get a survey?
Generally, you have to complain that you have an issue (if that's really an issue). My line was to them that "I have rough shifting in low gears and eco button memory doesn't stick, but here is TSB for your convenience". Also, maybe your RT was a recently purchase and you already have this fix.I took mine in on Saturday for this TSB and some other updates and according to the invoice they didn't do this TSB, instead they did 18-063-14, which in looking it up has nothing to do with the ECO mode. I have told my dealer that eco mode is downright dangerous.I've put just about 300 miles after this update and still like what they did, the jerkiness during shifts virtually disappeared. What I don't like is lag in the acceleration which I thought was related to this somehow. Essentially, from a complete stop making 90 degree turn and accelerating hard to 45 mph is a scary matter because the truck doesn't respond to acceleration immediately after the turn.
