Do they still make the 5.9l?

I'm not that big into all car things, but?

The other day someone told me they no longer make the 5.9l for the Durango. True or false?

I was also told Cadillac owns, or did own, Chrysler at some point. Are Chrysler and Cadillac related in some way?

Pretty dumb questions I know, but I'm just looking for the truth as I have no idea.

Thanks!

No to Cadillac.

Yes the 5.9L is still in production. You can purchase one directly from Mopar or other vendor shops in crate-motor configuration. With that said, there are currently no US vehicles made by Chrysler that have the 5.9L installed from the factory; nor will there likely ever be again.

Better off buying a crate motor.
They come with a warranty and most can be had with some performance goodies already built in.

Just really read what's in them as some of the stuff you already have may be duplicated on a complete crate motor, whereas a short block would be all that's necessary for most folks. Also the HP ratings may be with a 4bbl manifold rather than a 2bbl with fuel injection. But they do seem to be the way to go. You can also have them custom built for your application, so a low rpm torquer for crawling vs a high rpm high HP speed engine for others.
