I 've been radio-silent for months. Have a baby on the way, been renovating, and work's been crazy. That said, I am about to finally order all of the tow package parts and install them.

Correction. I got wise and started searching for other mopar vehicles and found this. Advertised as being for GC, but in the details it says it fits Durango's as well. This appears to be what I need!

Awesome find! The harness was my biggest hold-up. I had called MOPAR at one time and couldn't get a definitive "this is what you need" about the harness parts I found on their site. I'll update the original post later and note this.

Cheers! :) Congrats on the baby! We have a 3 year old and an 18 month old - to say we have our hands full is an understatement! :) Enjoy!

Hello, I'm new to the forum. I just installed a receiver on my 14 R/T this past week and here's what I have learned during the process;
- The receiver from 2011 up will fit on the 14. The difference in the part numbers is because of the different bezels or cover.
- The 2014 R/T and Citadel come pre-wired and only require the 4/7 pin connector that snaps into the receiver.
- Limited and SXT require the entire wiring harness.
- Installation was pretty simple and only took me about 2 hours by myself in my driveway.

I was able to find a used receiver hitch on ebay for $125 plus $45 shipping. I bought the 4/7 pin connector from the dealer for $60 and I am waiting for the cover to come in stock. Once I have that, and have it painted, I will be in it for a total of $320. Beats the hell out of the $1000 from the factory. I will try to post the pics from the install. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Nice job. Did you get the bezel cover for the hitch too?

I ordered the bezel/cover from moparamerica.com today. He said it is on back order until next week. Better price than the dealer, $41.83.

Are the 7 and 4 plug fully functional? normally have to be activated by the dealer. Nice job. I did the same to my 2013 R/T

When you say the Limited and SXT don't have the wiring harness, does that mean there is nothing there and has to be wired all the way, or is there something it wires to near the rear? New at this and want to make sure I have all the things I need! Thanks for the help!

How difficult was removing the bumper cover?
Would be interested in this as well. I don't want to screw up anything when popping it off. Do I need fastener/molding removal tools, or can I get away with standard hand tools? I couldn't find any how-to's out there specific to gen 3 Ds.

These instructions worked well. http://starparts.chrysler.com/info/default/k6861334.pdf

The scary piece is that it is held on pretty tight on the horizontal seam by the taillights. I started on the wheel well side by getting my finger underneath and worked my way toward the rear getting the clips to let go. There is a fairly loud popping noise. I'd suggest using two people when putting it back on - I probably would have scratched it up otherwise.

FWIW, I didn't need to lower the spare tire to get the bolts off or on.

I used all regular hand tools.

6 bolts hold on the metal bumper that has to be removed and 8 bolts hold on the hitch.

The plastics rivets were hardest for me. I used a razor blade and a paint scrapper underneath to keep the paint from getting scratched. This probably took the most time as I was also doing it in the dark. When you put the rivets back on, you have to pull the post like a regular rivet. I used two pairs of pliers to get this done. It was side-by-side because the one pulling on the post needed leverage, but I didn't want to scratch the paint.

Terrific feedback and detail - thanks!

Well it's not really $1000, which is msrp price more like $700-$800, plus it comes with additional things. What about Rear Load Leveling Suspension? Did you add that too?
I checked this out before hand and found out that the R/T, if not all of the 14"s come standard with load leveling suspension. When you look at the options on the Dodge web siteunder the built it/price it section, it will show you everything that is icluded on that option, and load leveling suspension was not listed.

Here's what it shows for R/T:
"•7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
•Class IV Receiver Hitch"

Here's what it shows for Citadel:
"•7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
•Class IV Receiver Hitch
•Full Size Spare Tire
•Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
•Steel Spare Wheel"

Here's wat it shows for SXT PLus:
•180-Amp Alternator
•7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
•Class IV Receiver Hitch
•Full Size Spare Tire
•Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
•Steel Spare Wheel

Here's what it shows for Limited:
•7 and 4 Pin Wiring Harness
•Class IV Receiver Hitch
•Full Size Spare Tire
•Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
•Steel Spare Wheel

I don't see any of them listed with an option for load leveling suspension. I think it must be standard now.
