Good for you.But I'm concerned about the lack of quality control issues on the folks getting the RT's and SRT's already..so I'm in no rush..My 18 SRT had 6 issues that were slowly corrected over the first year.
That's generally not a terrible idea, but this vehicle is only being built for one model year, meaning that whatever issue the first ones have is likely to be there for the whole year. Unless it's an easy fix recall like a bolt missing, manufacturers aren't really nimble in sorting out issues at the manufacturing end at the snap of a finger, some don't even bother fixing the issue till the next generation is released.

Anyway, I'll worry about crossing that bridge if and when I get to it, hopefully whatever issues they have are minor. Most of the truck is existing tech and by now Dodge has figured out the hellcat engine ... my biggest concern is with the new uconnect system. Mostly I'm just excited about it.

So I spoke to someone on another forum that has an inside source that has been reliable to date.

I am being told that DH production, as well as some Challenger hellcats and some Jeeps, is paused until the week of Feb 14 due to chip shortages.

Take it for what it's worth, but like I said this source has been solid so far ... I'm hoping this time he/she is mistaken.

If they get 2 months behind and they want to end production by the end of june,FCA will not have time to build vehicles for the dealers who kept the DDHC in house. Less built makes it more valuable.
I don’t know the logistics of Stellantis or the plant where they make the Durangos, but these days in order to catch up they’re pumping out an average of 100 TRXs a day by prioritizing them over other 1500 builds. Couldn’t they do the same with the Durango to get them out of the way in time and put lower trims on the back burner?

The dealers are paid by the manufacturer to prep the vehicle for delivery, and that includes washing it . . . this is required, so I don't think you will be able to prevent them from washing it . . .
Of course you can prevent it. Just put a 'do not wash' request in under penalty of hand severing, that's what I do. :)

In fact they are instructed not to remove a single sticker or plastic cover from the inside and out, just touch the vehicle the bare minimum to get if off shipping mode.

The last dealer that circumvented my will enjoyed a $1500 paint correction bill.

Do not wash... Is that something I tell the salesman or so I go in person and make them write something up and have them sign it
It’s not something that requires paperwork.

When I deal with a new dealership for the first time I just keep reminding the SA and the GSM every time I speak to them ... after a few times it’s programmed into them.

I’ve never known one to resist the idea, they know the quality of their car washes.

Lol, wasn't trying to burst anyone's bubble. Just trying to keep it real.
I knew my order was in just prefer to see them take their time building this beast than rushing it thru QC.
That's for sure. I don't mean to bring up the TRX again but if anyone has been following the disaster that that rollout has been as vehicles were rushed through qc to try and catch up for delays they would be more than happy to wait a week or even a month longer for their DDHC to make sure it gets though the factory with every part bolted to the corresponding parts. We're now to the point that dealers have to do 2/3hr inspections on every TRX to catch all the issues qc let slide. I'm talking suspensions not bolted in, oil lines left hanging, just ridiculous and dangerous stuff. If you're lucky you've got an understanding dealer that's willing to do it during PDI, if you're not you're taking your life into your own hands that Jeff at the assembly line didn't forget any bolts.

Keep my DDHC till you're sure it's put together correctly.

As far as cargurus, just go to the site, click new cars, dodge, Durango, any distance, hellcat, and it will give you all the published vins. It's up to 33 now.

I am hearing to many QC issues for a $94,000 vehicle.Cadillacs hardly any problems. If I can make 10,000 on this car if it shows up,will then get a new escalade.
If you knew what a QC debacle the TRX rollout has been your takeaway would be two things:

1. Is it even humanly possible to fuck something up this much?
2. Please keep my DDHC as long as you need to make sure it's put together correctly.

Aside from industry wide production delays, my guess is that stellantis is spooked by what has happened with their halo truck and the associated bad rep and doesn't want it repeated with the DDHC.

For the record, my TRX came with its fender flares scuffed, paint needed correction, washer fluid hose unattached, coolant hose routed improperly, harnesses routed improperly, hood misaligned, exhaust misaligned, rear bumper misaligned. Still with only 300 miles on the odo, it is currently at the shop yet again awaiting a new front axle (leaking cv boot), a rear upper control arm, a rear lower control arm, both as a result of improperly installed flag nuts (yes that's a real thing) that gouged through the control arms. And this is just my truck, there are many other QC issues that have manifested in others.

So yeah, keep my DDHC as long as you need to make sure it's right, cause 99% of all the issues my and others' trucks have had aren't engineering ones, they were preventable at the assembly/qc level.

As far as the esky. I don't know where they are with that SUV now but that was also delayed by months.

Oh man, that's just awful. :(

Make sure they fix it under a dealer prep pre delivery ticket and not a body shop ticket. Last thing you want is your vehicle to fetch less at resale because it's showing body work damage repair that you didn't cause.
