On Sunday, I took my father in law's 28-foot pontoon boat up to our houseboat on Norris Lake. I had just finished my AALs the night before. This was a good test. The boat/motor weight is 2611 lbs, trailer weight is 1000 lbs and 600 lbs or so items in the boat. The D carried 2 adults, 2 kids for 500 lbs in human cargo. It also had a full tank of gas. So I'm guessing 25 gallons of premium at 6.35 lbs./gal (assuming a gravity of 54) for an additional 159 lbs. Total pull was 4870 lbs.

The rear spring deflection was improved and it rode nicely with and without the boat. I didn't tweak up the front T bars yet. The white compound seen between the springs is white lithium grease which helps them slide when they flex. Lightly spread some with your fingers along the upper curve and lower helper. It also helps to watch the grease as you tighten the pinch bolt (which should stay as straight as possible during install.) It'll start to ooze out a bit. Also, take a flashlight and shine it at the back of the spring pack, then look for any light that may shine through the front of the pack. You'll know if you need to tighten the pinch bolt nut up some more. I double nutted mine after I had her on the ground again.

Anyway, here are some pix.

Oh, BTW, do we have a member from KY that has CRUZ on the back window of their silver D in big type? I passed you on I-75 in the big traffic jam. Sweet D man!

Thanks Chuck, that one is my father in laws though? We have a runabout and a floating cabin houseboat on our lake property. You ride the pontoon over from our private dock to the cabin in the cove. If you come down this way during the warmer months, I'll put together a Cheeseburgur in Paradise shindig on the water in your honor? :) Guests are always welcome! Beware though, some of our northern friends find the humidity opressive in August.
