I am a sales consultant in coastal Maine and I recently sold a 24 Durango with UConnect5 Nav.
It appears that the map screen is permanantly in "night" mode. Myself and several colleagues here have tried playing with settings for quite some time, including headlights on/off/auto positions, dimmer switch (The roller next to headlight switch) in multiple positions, and we've gone through what seems like ALL the settings possible, without any results.

I've even called Dodge directly and been bounced around to a couple different people that SEEM to understand the situation I'm describing and the question I'm asking, but have not had any information to assist.

I've attached a picture of what the current screen looks like. All the vehicles I've used to this point (a few hundred across all the major brands) all have day and night nav modes. Day nav mode is usually a white map screen, with green or blue features (parking lots, water, business blocks, ect) and night mode is usually a dark grey map screen with dark grey-green or dark grey-blue for features.

Can anyone offer insight as to IF there is a "Day" and "Night" mode for this Nav screen or is it simply a brightness setting that is changed when going from day to night?
IF there IS a day mode, how the heck do we get there!!?!?? Folks at Dodge don't even seem to know!

I just bought a new Durango r/t with the same problem, also the instruments are dim and not much adjustment

Use the dash knob next to the headlight switch to adjust the dash lights. The night mode can't be changed though.

Yeah, have done that but still weak. The number speed is very dim so I changed to the speedo, that's looks good but still dim. I have poor vision maybe!!

When I bought my 22 Durango used a little over a year ago, the day mode and night mode worked as they should. A few weeks ago, my nav system went through an involuntary update. After the update, my display has been stuck in the night mode. Based on this, I expect that this was an intentional change. No thoughts as to "why" though.

Uconnect program designers are 3 years behind the 8 ball so by 2027 we should get auto/manual mode back.

Is this something with the TOM TOM programing of the map always in "night " mode? You would think that Dodge would have come up with something by now to fix this issue. What the hell do we pay all this money for. Also the other thing is having to RE-BOOT the unit/radio several times a month to have anything on the screen work. (2024 Durango GT 10" screen)

We have a 2021 Dodge Durango Citadel and experienced the same thing. The map was bright and colored until 2-3 weeks ago. Now it's always in dark mode. Guess we'll get in line and wait for an update to "fix" this. Yikes...what a bummer.

Hey all, new here. Glad I found this thread as I have similar issues.
Briefly, here's my story:

• A few months ago I received a software update on my 22 DSRT392
• Immediately afterwards I lost Drive Modes/Performance Pages
• Dealer tried re-uploading the update, head unit wouldn't take it
• New head unit ordered and installed
• Drive Modes/Performance Pages returned
• I then lost the vehicle's audible voice used in VR (Voice Recognition) and NAV
• Basically, the vehicle "hears" me and follows my commands but I can't hear it
• NAV maps also now stuck on Night Mode

I left the vehicle with the Dealer for a week to fix the issues. No dice.
Working with Dodge's STAR they couldn't get the audible voice back.
They never got around to fixing the dark NAV map issue either.

Everything else on the vehicle works great, runs great.
But I'm about to give up on the two head deck issues.
Thoughts? Thanks.

It is my understanding DARK MODE is the only option. I don't have Weather so the only value for me is SIRIUSXM. I use my Garmin for NAV. A lot of money to pay for music.

Stellantis must be getting complaints from millions of people because of this error.
NAV is essential to many and failure of it to go into DAY mode has to be a huge deal.

How can there not be an immediate fix/update for something this crucial to the vehicle's daily operation? And using an aftermarket NAV in a vehicle that's only 3 years old and cost ~$90k new is unacceptable.

True... but it's not high up on their list to improve... not even "low" on their list.
Got a feeling unless they were getting targeted feedback that individuals were not buying the vehicle because of dark mode, nothing is happening on it.

While I think Tesla cars are ugly, my Boss's Tesla has gotten 4 OTA updates in 3 months and each one improved the vehicle. Tesla even releases release notes.

I wonder how MB, Lexus, Infinity, BMW, Acura and other higher end brands are with their electronics? Anyone?

Goodness, I hope that's not how Stellantis is thinking.

And as I said earlier, I still have the missing voice prompts for VR/NAV.
So that means a barely visible NAV map in the day.
And no voice prompts either for guidance.

The UC5 system has so much potential but Dodge threw their hands up and do not do further development once the MY is over.
That sucks since the systems from 2021 to 2025 are exactly the same hardware specs. OT updates for new features and updates is not an option with Dodge.

Even the Dodge Charger Daytona cannot be updated over the air, people have to bring them into the dealer for the dealer to say, not available yet waiting of Dodge.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Durango but the way Stellantis has screwed dodge over in the past few years, it will take an act of a supreme being to get them on track.

I would even be tempted to dump my wife's 2021 JGC and get her a brand new Durango and if I do the good thing is, I know what I am in for. A great drive train, excellent ride quality and NOW a decent UC5 system albeit dark mode stinks and wireless phone charger but major stupidity and no care from the manufacturer and dealer network.

@FireFighter392DSRT if you have an Android, use Android auto google maps as it is outstanding. If you have an Iphone, sorry I can't help. LOL

@FireFighter392DSRT just throwing this out there. The Nav/UC5 has it's own volume control and maybe just maybe it is turned all the way down. When you go into IVR mode did you try turning up the audio. If yes then my theory is defunct but I have a hard time believing a new radio is doing the same thing as your OEM one.

Just like with the UC4 you probably need to adjust volume of an app while it's working. Some are very quick to start and stop so by the time the event is done you realize you missed your opportunity to adjust it.
