Facts: MSRP $91,185 from Dealer Order Sheet
Plus Pkg $6k, Premium Pkg $10k, ROPC $395 paint, Delivery / Freight $1595

My build was Plus Pkg Red Octane Pearlcoat
Total: $99,175 ( excluding taxes, tag, title, Doc fees)
Trading my 2022 TNG (great truck)

Good: price is cheaper than any leftover new 2021 DDHC

Bad: 2021DD Hellcat was MSRP $82,490

Ugly: I just got my TNG in July. I’m going to trade. But what will it be worth in 6 months.

I need to decide by December to make sure I get one, IMHO.

Thoughts? Please advise.

Thanks for reading.

Used car prices are falling so you probably won't be able to sell your TNG for more than you paid for it. Get some quotes now and you might need to sell it now to get the most for it and drive something else while you wait.

Unfortunately, this is how getting "underwater" starts... and I know from experience. You will lose money on your trade, likely into 5 digits. You can roll that loss in to the price of the HC, but then you'll be buying it for more than it's worth, and you'll lose out even more when you attempt to sell/trade THAT in a few years. And then you'll really be screwed. Keep the TNG and set your sights on something else in a few years.

If this is not a financial strain and you have the means to do it comfortably then pursue it more.
The one stinger for me is that $9k MSRP increase for the same exact base vehicle unless I am incorrect.

U are correct. That irritates me a bit but the fact that all the leftover 2021s new on dealer lots are 110k - 120k, buying the 2023 makes sense

Question: How are the 2023’s MSRP’d at so much less than the 2021‘s? Sounds like as soon as they start delivering the 2023s the sticker on the 2021s might have to drop like a rock to become more attractive to buyers? Also, at that point you’d have some pretty good leverage to negotiate down the price you’d pay for a 2021 model? Might be worth it to wait until a few 2023s get delivered and then pressure the dealer. To cut you a big break on a 2021?

Oddly, it seems that my trim package has actually increased in MSRP $1500-2000 since I picked mine up in 2021. Shopping to find the right motivated dealer might prove to be worth your while as well.
