Wanted to give an update on my AA wireless situation. Last night I did another hard reset on the uconnect. Seemed to work for a little while and then just like that I got the connection error. I did notice that I first get a WIFI authentication error. Asking for those that have AA wireless work at all times. What wifi network do you connect to in your vehicle. Mine looks like this. I often get password errors and the authentication error which I am sure is contributing to my AA not working.

 

When I get connected it says "connected through google". It does not really need a password which confuses me as to why it says a password is required.

 

Maybe I'm just not used to it but Damn if Android Auto sucks the battery right out of my phone. I just go to the store and back, not even on the android app page and I'm down 10-15%! Samsung Note 8
Thinking maybe it's the geo map its always running. I don't use it but I do like the fact I can pull up some music apps etc but not if I need to put my phone on the charger every time.....

 

Sorry it took so long. I was wrong, my maps look exactly like yours in the dark screen. Never realized that.

 

It’s really hard to see road at night on the map. In my 19’ RAM, I could pick 5 different themes for the map nav. I guess more features will come with further updates. Besides the add profile option missing, what else should be comming or fix on the next update?

 

My android auto wireless NEEDS TO BE FIXED in the next update.

Again sorry to repeat myself, but my RAM backup camera was 10x better. I thought myself that FCA might be using only one type of camera across their fleet for ease of use.
My DD backup camera resolution looks like my old motorola flip phone in 2005.

It's horrendous.

 

CarPlay just stopped today. Same phone works fine in my Jeep with a Sony CarPlay deck.

The other day, the screen in the Durango just went black.

had a couple bugs in my '21 Uconnect, first while using Android Auto running Waze and podcast addict the screen will flicker, after a couple flickers the phone will disconnect, reconnect and resume playing music/waze. Two weekends ago, was driving and the system crashed, rebooted twice and then started working properly.......very odd, seems to have an issue within Android Auto, my phone and the firmware on the computer. Not happening or bothersome enough to bother the dealership yet.

 

Does anyone have the health data repport with their DD 21'? I had that with my RAM in the uconnect app, but don't see it anymore with my Durango.

I switched DD's with my son and now in this one I find that Car Play wireless only connects about 50% of the time, so I plugged it in to my usbC cable and it works like a champ... not ideal as I like to leave the phone wireless and sitting on the charging pad but at least with this as backup I have CP available and working... not sure if this helps anyone but figured I'd share.

 

Dumb qusetion: if we enable in setting ''allow software update over WIFI'', does it cancel the OTA software update? I am just wondering if we check the box to allow wifi update it will still push software update over OTA

Also I cannot seem to find anywhere where you can link a remote to a profile. i.e. when I unlock the doors it auto sync's my settings from seat position to favorites??

 

new problem today, my screen is black and non responsive, with exception of the last phone call that was made on the top banner style. Car play was not working so I switched to BT figuring at least I can use hands free phone this way.... and as I was on a call, another one came in so i hit the red decline button and now even after a start and stop of the car, nothing on the screen works and it still shows that last name and number on the top. I'm hopeful that after a 20 min sleep cycle it'll come back... but if not, is there a way to "reset" or "reboot" uconnect? I hate to fiddle with the battery but is that the only choice? Why is this system so glitchy, in my 2, 2021 durangos.... both have these issues. the old uconnect worked perfectly in all 4 of my scat packs and over 4 years, maybe 2 or 3 times total did I have to reset them, which was simple...2 fuse pulls (I don't remember the number) in the trunk fuse box and all came back perfectly....

this is getting frustrating

 

It's a new version, it's GONNA have issues at 1st. Fortunately for me, I have had zero issues with mine. They will get them sorted out. Make sure you notify them.

 

I know it’s new but for two months it has worked properly for an entire day lol. Is there a way to reset this thing? I can’t change radio station or any settings

Was able to reproduce an issue today. If I listen to XM Radio, and I switch to spotify on carplay, I have the high voice muffled on the front left tweeter. If I shut the DD off and start again, the issue is gone. It makes me crazy.

 

I found it, hold down power and mute for 8 seconds and it reset! Nothing else would work. It’s working now except car play won’t work with wire or wireless.

There is no excuse for this as the last gen Uconnect worked for a very long time without issues for the most part. They should not have released this if it wasn’t ready. So my 16. 18 19 and 19 chargers and challengers had car play but my 21 Durango’s don’t? Lol

I figured I would start this thread to see what issues people are running into. I'm sure many of these will be worked out quickly but wanted to see is others are having the same issues I am.

1) Yesterday, my screen became completely unresponsive. It would not acknowledge any screen touches. This went on for 5 minutes and continued after a reboot of the system. Eventually it just started working on its own again. It started when my apple car play started up.

2) Performance pages are glitchy. They seem to crash when I select the certain performance page I want to view. Without fail, the G Force page crashes and reverts to the home page every time I click on it.

3) I am unable to add more than one profile. I called Uconnect and they said an update will be pushed out soon to add up to 5 profiles. Is everyone having this issue?

4) Screen not dimming when headlights are on while using apple carplay. It seems like its on full bright even when headlights are on only when on the car play screen.

I have the 2021 GT Blacktop and having sane problems

 

@DodgeCares are you still monitoring this thread? Can you give us any hope in the form of when updates to fix these issues with UConnect 5 will be available? Anything at all?

suzook, I've had a couple issues with the unit crashing and rebooting, I link android........

 

Unfortunately, so many variants of phones, with different versions of OS on them, issues are bound to show up. Definitely some growing pains with the new Uconnect OS.

 

very true, each version of Android OS, written by different people, different companies, bound to have issues.

 

Not really an issue, but something I wish could be added to the Uconnect system, why doesn't Dodge/FCA/whoever owns them now use the forward and rear cameras and save the video onto the Uconnect system as dash cams?

I've been thinking of getting one for mine but I hate the idea of adding more crap onto the windshield and having to tear panels apart to hide wiring...........then I thought hell all that lane/stopping/cruise stuff that I turned off (cause I really can't stand all that computer control stuff) has a camera pointed forward and the reverse cam, seriously how difficult would it be to have a dashcam software on the Uconnect system that saves a weeks worth of video to the system and rewrites over it?

To that point though I'm surprised no car manufacturer selling cars in North America does that (but then it did take over 50years of truck manufacturing before dual exhaust was a factory option)

 

I have a new bug with android auto. I only get sound from rear speakers and volume doesn't work. The display shows the volume changing but it doesn't. Simple fix is disconnect, then reconnect android auto. It has only happened a couple times.

 

I had it happen once when my phone connected the volume dial and steering controls would only operate the volume of the NAV, I'd have to pull up the settings and adjust the volume of the phone/radio on the dropdown menu. Next time I started the truck it went back to normal.

 

I discovered the weather app isn't working either. Just loads forever then errors out. Not sure if it's related to my "services not activated" bug or not. In my '16 Charger the weather and gas prices were in their own app, but with the new system I'm not sure where those are supposed to show up. Are they in the weather app or tied into the Nav system and displayed there? Without a working system I don't know where to look. Also does anyone think a system reboot might fix some of my problems and how would I do that?

 

I had the same issue with my '21 GT Plus. I have to "sign into the network" each time I start the vehicle; it also affects the streaming channels in SXM 360L.

-tap the Notifications bell in the top bar
-tap "Android System: sign into the network"
-the AT&T sales pitch screen will load up
-tap the three dots in the upper right corner
-tap "use this network as-is"

Once I did all that, everything works fine, but again I have to do this EVERY TIME I start my DD. Also, if you accidentally tap something else and exit the AT&T screen any time before the last step, you're out of luck as there's no way to go back until you restart the system and the notification comes back. I found this by trial-and-error; there's nothing in the docs that tell you what to do, and I can't find any way to have the system use the built in network by default and stay signed in.
