You must replace them in pairs. Hid headlights change color as they age and get dimmer. Go to theretrofitsource.com and buy some D3S bulbs of your choice, I very highly recommend the Osram CBI bulbs. They're super easy to replace.

Use the access panel in the wheel well... Remove dust cover, unplug the connector, unlock and remove light. DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BULB ON THE GLASS!!!!

I don't think it's a must to replace both, but the brightness and color may be different.

That is why most people replace both at the same time.

 

One one fails the other is generally right behind it. But yes, color and brightness will be different, especially with HID.

My factory bulbs were 4300k, but they were so old they turned more of an 8000k, they were bluer than my 5500k bulbs!

Silly question.

How to remove the bulb from the wire? I am pulling on the plug and it won't come loose. I feel I can depress something on the plug but it still won't shake loose.

 

They're notorious for getting stuck... Wiggle and pull, it'll come free. Pull hard too, but do not pull on the cord itself
