No the V6 models always had the electric power steering. I just think that part of the '16 MY "freshening" was to add this selectable level of steering boost or feel feature.
Actually the early 2014-2015 V6 cars have hydraulic power steering with an electric pump and hydraulic rack. 2016+ went to an all electric rack.

I have a 2016 Durango Limited with a 3.6L. After replacing the battery Parksense was unavailable. I did a code scan with BlueDriver scan tool and found Park Sense Braking Assist had a low voltage error. I cleared the code and everything is back to normal. I hope this helps.

Did you clear the code with the BlueDriver scan tool? Also, where did you purchase this tool? Thanks!
 
How about you instead, disconnect the negative cable, hold the brake pedal for 30 seconds, and then reconnect the battery. That might reset it.
