Its obviously called an Axle shaft seal. But there are a few types used, depending on differential/axles used.
Gotta dive under to look for marks/measure the stuff.
Changing is easy after removing the axle.

Changed the axleshaft seal. Whole axle came out, not only the outerpart. That resulted in that i had to remove the shockabsorber for the nessesary space. The 2 parts i got separated on the workbench. The seal itself was easy.
Unfortunately i found the upperballjoint shot so had to order a new one. Will come tomorrow i hope. My 2 year technical inspection runs out end of the week and no way he would pass with that balljoint. But after changing it and the lower balljoint on the left (shot rubber) he should pass. So gotta work a bit on him this week and see if i can get an inspection next week.

Hi Gonzo:
It's been a while. Was the leakage a drip, or more like a seep. Seeping is not normally an emergency, but if that would cause you to fail the inspection, that moves it up the importance ladder. The Gen 1 Durangos were known for being tough on the upper ball joints. There was a recall for them that included my then 2001 SLT Plus.

Yeah , didnt do much on him this summer. (didnt need to)
The leakage made a spot of 10 by 10 cm on my driveway everytime i parked it. Just annoying.
Did the upper baljoint left side last inspection as well as the lower leftside.The rubber of the last is shot after 2 years. Bought a MOOG now.

Got the beast approved for 2 years in september.
Did a 600 km trip last saturday with a trailer to pick up a camper. The thing was cheap but too much waterdamage so left it.
Me and my mate got a nice day driving anyway and the beast enjoyed the trip as well. +13 C at home at the coast
but inland a bit of snow and just a few degrees

That photo would be a nice Christmas card. Is that a old Citroen in the covered parking? I don't know old cars very well.

Because i got full kneeprothese in my left leg i was forced to drive my D the last 8 weeks as daily driver.
No news is good news but an issue popped up with the startermotor. It goes very slowly sometimes, so bad you wonder if it will start next time. Smelled last week a very warm iron smell after i parked it. Next day started like normal, today slow again. I guess the starter is dying or maybe just philty. Battery is full and charging good.
I ordered another used starter to be sure. Because demounting it and finding out that its broken leaves me with a 2,5 ton
unmovable piece of iron.

New starter didnt show up yet.
Started the beast with starterkabels connected to my Jeep Patriot. After running on its own for a few minutes he started again on his own. Drove 10 km to charge a bit but then didnt wanna start again.
Battery gave 12.2 volt and while running 13,6 though dash says 14,5.
Bought today a bloody expensive new 90ah battery but no start. Had it on charge for 5 hours but no start. Took Patriot and startkabels, no start.
All it does is a heavy rattle from behind the dash following by all lights going off.
Lights come back after a few seconds.
What am i missing here?

That kind of sounds like a super high starter draw since the lights are dimming/going out as you try to start it. Can you put an amp probe on the circuit to see the current draw of the starter?

Hi @Gonzo Norway is that an authentic (Setina) push bar?

If yes, is it legal in Norway?

Norway is not in the EU, so this information is not very helpful for me, but maybe there is a way to have a legal real push bar over here.
I really want to have one 😎
For political reasons.

btw. this is in EU, but not crucial, because this Durango is in special service, too, so with other rules as for private cars
