Just curious about towing with a non tow n go R/T, if there is anything I should be doing. In our previous vehicle I took it out of overdrive. Now with my 21 R/T, I'm thinking obviously take it out of economy mood. But is there anything else?
I'm getting an OEM receiver installed today, yes I could have save a lot of money going aftermarket or doing it myself. But I don't like the way the aftermarket ones look and wasn't keen on removing the bumper cover.
 
There's no need to use Sport mode or to turn off Eco mode when towing (although some prefer it). The trans will probably hang out in 5th or 6th gear during freeway driving all on its own. Note that the Draw Tite hitch for the DD installs in exactly the same position as the OEM one and doesn't even require the bump-out hitch cover (your stock one would fit over it). Depends upon what you're towing too.
If towing a boat with surge brakes or utility trailer then you just need hitch and wiring...no need for a brake controller or WDH.
If you're talking travel trailer with electric brakes..then you need a brake controller and possibly WDH depending upon the weight and size of the trailer.
 
Make sure you install the trailer wiring for that hitch, and use a brake controller. The non-TnG R/Ts brakes are pretty weak for towing IMHO. Also, you should be using a weight distribution hitch if you are pulling more than 5,000 lbs.
Interesting, so the V6s don't have upgraded brakes yet if they come with a factory tow package they are rated to tow 6200lbs. But IMO towing around +3000lbs, the trailer should have it's own brakes.
