Tell me more about this hemi tick because I’m hearing something in my RT that has about 6000 miles on it so strange
the 'hemi tick' has been known for a while, this is not something new. when I bought my 2011 Durango in 2014 it was already a well known thing. you can find NUMEROUS articles on the internet and postings in all the Dodge/Ram forums. it seems to be mostly associated with the 5.7L but I assume the 6.4L is very similar mechanically.

" According to Chrysler/ Dodge, Hemi engines can develop a completely normal, harmless tick. In our experience, this can be true. We have checked out some Hemi engines with ticks in the past and have been unable to find any problems with them. Even better than that, the vehicle owners have not reported any issues developing after checking out the engines and reporting that they are fine."

Is the Hemi Tick Bad?

Thanks for the info. That’s where I was headed; is it bad or not. I thought it was the gas. Sometimes it get regular and thought it was developing a knock as a result.

You can run any fuel in it you want. Any computer controlled engine (read, anything with at least OBDII, from 96 on) has knock sensors to control engine knock. You will not damage your engine by running regular in a naturally aspirated engine. It may not run as well, and it will have less power, but you will not damage it. Turbo and supercharged engines are a different story though.

I owned a 2018 SRT 392 and it was very nice! had one issue with the navigation showed the vehicle miles from where I was. Dodge replaced radio with new unit and was perfect. I now own a DDHC and so far it is unbelievable I’m still breaking it in only 230 miles. I can give some advice if you want it about upgrades
1 change brake pads for less dust.
2 install rock guards
3 break it in by the book
4 if you start it warm it up and raise oil pressure for 1 minute before shut down. (prevents hemi tick)
5 install a oil separator to keep intake and catalytic converter oil free. ( low friction rings allow some bypass gasses)
I loved my 392! after break in I towed my boat with it and I couldn’t even tell it was there.
How is the HC compared to the 392?

Night and day? Worth it?

700HP vs 400+ and scary (to another who knows what blowers can do) blower whine as it spools up.

I went from 392 to HC..If you are an aggressive driver and like to win ..meaning that every drive is a race than yes..If you are not competitive and just want to get from point A to B than you only need the 392..
My judge of power in a vehicle is I want WOT to be an event that gives me a mixture of fear and excitement, kind of like a roller coaster. With my DDSRT I noticed I started putting my foot to the floor often and not thinking much of it. Not that it was slow, but it wasn't the "event" I wanted. I'm hoping WOT in the DDHC never loses that thrill because if it does my god have mercy on my bank account and marriage...

I was able to get over 60 thousand for my 392 and was able to order a DDHC. The whole process was 5 mths due to plant shutdowns over the summer. The difference in hellcat power is phenomenal and the new uconnect and sound is excellent. I don’t have any issues like some people have had with quality or uconnect but mine was built closer to the end of year. If you can buy one I’m pretty sure you will not regret it. Just don’t let you balls outrun your brains because this power plant will go from zero to citation in a hurry.

I don't have a HC, but I've owned a few superchargers over the years. Not to worry, it won't lose that thrill. It's insane and will keep you happy.

This is my third supercharged vehicle, but first one that came from the factory with one. The first one was an AWD, AWS truck ('03 Sierra Denali) with 500hp Absolutely hooked up, but didn't have the hp to keep pulling. Second one was a 4x4 truck with 650 hp so unless you had it in 4x4 (which it did NOT like on dry pavement) you couldn't give it full throttle below highway speeds. I'm hoping the DDHC is the combination of the two in which case like you said I should be happy for a long time.

It really should be perfect for you...hopefully that's the case. Mine were all too nuts to be daily drivers, fun as hell, but tough to drive. (a couple camaros and a big-block malibu, all between 600-725 rwhp). The idea of having something like the HC that can be driven daily is awesome. Wish I could have ordered one, but I'll have to "settle" for the SRT.
